Thumbs up Well USED Jamis Dakar Comp 17" or 18"

I know some of you saw this at the STR Swap Meet, and well, I still have it.

It's very well used, but works fairly well. Nothing wrong with the frame (it's a 17 inch frame, I forgot to measure it) or rear shock.
The rest of the parts all work too, but I'd say it could use a tune up, and a better fork.

From the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the seatpost is 17", and from the center of the head tube to the center of the seat tube is 20.5".

$225.00 takes it out of my garage, and into yours!

I do not want to ship it, so plan on a local pick-up.

I'm leaving for Tucson on Wenesday night, so if you want it but can't pick it up before then, let me know, and we'll work something out.

I'll take PayPal (no extra fee) or cash.

Here's the pics; (and yes, I know that clean stuff sell's better than dirty stuff. It's a USED mountain bike. It's dirty.)

Thats a great bike. The chumba XCL is a basic copy of that bike.
Not a bad design for its time.

Thumbs up Bump.....

Nobody wants a great starter bike for dirt cheap?

Jake's friend was the last one to ride it, and we had no problems with it on that ride.

This bike will make a great starter bike, for someone just getting into riding.

Jake's 5'7" and it fit's him great.

Lacey was riding this bike first when she was 12. Then we got her Kikapu. Then it went to Jake. Now he has his Kikapu and Blast.

I'd say it would fit someone between 5'5" and 5'8".

The standover is 31 inches.

My oldest just turned 11 and is 5'3" I think this would be a tad to tall

Ted was producing Mcstruts before Jamis - not many people know because they were in such small qty. limited custom runs, just thought I'd get the truth out there.

Do you have a link or something to a website with info on the "mcstruts"?
I googled searched it couldnt find anything related to mcstruts cycling wise.

Edit; Sorry to "Derail" the thread Maxwell. Im just curious what the mcstruts look like

Mcstruts....I think he meant McPhereson Strut. It's the same basic design for race car and trucks. Most if not all of the suspension designs for bikes came from either car or motorcycle. Amp if you remember who they are started the whole suspension for bike thing. They pioneered horst link/Mcphereson design which was bought by Specialized. Outland pioneered the VPP which was purchased by Santa Cruz. Trek started the unified rear triangle thing.

Everyone just modified the basic designs and called it something else like ICT, DWLink and even Chumba's FCC are all just variations of very few basic designs.

I think one of the simplest or purest form of McPherson Strut design would be the K2 Razor. All those rockers/swing links are there to provide leverage ratio variations/tuning...ie 3:1 compression ratio, raising rate/progressive compression/suspension.

Here is the link that explains all off the bike suspension design.

Well, I'm not looking for anything fancy, just something to ride around the street between the group rides.

but that Jamis sure looks nice though.

I just measuered the standover height, and it's 31 inches. I think it would be fine.
