I am looking for a few items that I can put on my rig for commuting. I need: (preferably inepensive)
- Disc 26er Wheel Set that for my Rockhopper. - Disc Rotors - 160mm I also looking for a few items for my Trail Rides. - Chris King Headset - 1 1/8" (Not sure too sure on the fit, this is the size on the Spechy's Websit specs. I'm headset ignorant) - 9 speed cassette (looking for something lighter than the steel $40 cassettes I can get at my LBS - referably something around 250g.) I live in Chino and can travel a little to pick things up. All you guys with a wealth of parts, I'm looking to take some of those off your hands. |

The shimano Ultegra cassette is like an 12-25 tooth 9speed I think and it will fit your 9 speed mountain bike just fine it will just have more road like gearing...
The CS-6500 weights 210g and being that you were looking for something around 250 grams I figured it fit the bill pretty well... You'll be hard pressed to find a 9 speed mountain cassette under 250g.. (see $200.00 XTR cassette below) The SRAM pg 990 weighs like 305g the new $$ shimano XTR weighs like 224g the new shimano XT weighs 305g... If you are looking for something to use for your commute and you won't need anything higher than 25t in the rear I say go with the Ultegra... Just my opinion... P.S. I also have an extra used PG 990 if you want something with like an 11-34 tooth count... |

what did you mean by 160mm rotors? are you talking about the rotors themselves? or the rotor set with brakes?
i have my avid rotors that i used for about 3 trips on fullertons loop... i got 203mm rotors and don't need it? pm me if you want it.... |

Last question for now; If I ran the 990 for trail and the cs-6500 for commuting would I have to use a different chain. I want to be able to take the MT wheels off and put on the commuter wheels with minimal issues: i.e. only swithcing out the wheels and not messing with the chain). |

the chainlength calculator says there will be a 2 link difference between the
12-25 Ultegra cassette and the 11-34 Sram PG 990. I can post pictures of both cassettes when I get home. The PG 990 has very little use less than 100 miles. The Ultegra has a little over 500 miles on it. I'll let you judge wear. -palek |
