Default WTB: Disk brake/frame adaptor

Don't quite know what they're called, but it is the contraption that allows you to use a disk brake with frames that don't have the mounting tabs.

I think that AMP used to make them and I see that Adrenaline has one listed, but it's like a $170!!! I can't quite understand why a hunk of aluminum and a steel bar costs so much.

Anyway, if someone has one for sale, I have a friend in search of one.

Thanks!

As with most everything, it depends. I have a 2000 853 hardtail that I absolutely love, so much in fact that I had disc tabs welded on by a local builder. In this case, and because it was a steel frame, it was well worth the hassle.

To the OP: Your best (only?) option is from a company called Brake Therapy.

I just talked to Adrenaline bikes, they are out of stock and the price is $49.95. Jeff was telling me that it works great. I am going to give it a try. I have a link and a picture here for you.

I have one of those I bought for my hardtail but it only works for Aluminum frames. If you have an Al frame, I'll sell it to you for what I paid, I think it was $30. The company is called A2Z. Brand new, still in bag.

Yup, all the hardware is in the bag. Make sure you have an Al bike, it won't work with a steel frame. I thought I could get away with it since the package says Aluminum frames recommended but it just won't work with my steel frame. Let me look for it when I get home an I'll PM you the information.
