Default Roadie parts

hey im looking for a few more parts to pick up used so i dont have to spend as much money for them new...
i need the dual control shifter/brake levers... the ones where it has the litle thing behind the lever that you push to shift up and the whole brake to shift down..
it needs to be compatable wth shimano derailluer though please..

and also i need a rear cassette... and i think i need an 8 speed since on the older model dura ace derailluer it says some letters then the number 8

Thanks!
after these few parts for the road bike build, and the fixing my dh, it will be my only "upgrades"/"builds" of the year

The cassette you'll match to the shifters, as well as the chain. Most likely you'll need 9 or 10 speed if it is somewhat newer.

Is your wheelsets cassette for Shimano or Campy, that will also make a difference.

I might have what you're looking for:
Dura Ace 9 speed "dual control" shifters
dura ace or ultegra rear cassette

Let me know if you are interested I can e-mail pics.

9 and 10 are the standard nowadays for road stuff. If you can find a good deal on 9 or 10 speed shifters I would go that way and buy a der. to match it.

If the only thing you have is an old 8 spd der and no other parts, I would look for 9 or 10 speed stuff and get a der. to match it.

What all do you have so far for this bike?

maybe a seat.. haha if i get extramoney left over... oh and i just remembered.. the is like a 4 inch bolt going down the stem and i wont screw into anything and if i turn the bike over it slides out... it looks like the bolt that would hold a top cap on a mtb bu theres no top cap since its a roadie

Sounds like an old school quill stem on a older roadie....

Well my frame and seat kinda match so I was hoping to sell it as a starting package....

the forks already cut and mounted and ready to go with the headset and stem....

If I'm not mistaken, an 8 speed derailleur should would work for a 9 speed shifter, etc. It has the same range and the indexing is determined by the shifters.

Something you have not mentioned is if you have a double or triple chainring up front. That is important as you will need shifters that are for the one you have. They make triple or double FD's, but you can use a triple FD for a double system if necessary.

Also, I hope the frame is a good fit. As important as fit is on a MTB, it's even more critical on a roadie if you're going to put in some decent mileage on it.

No.... its more like the opposite.... a 9 speed derailer will work with a 8 Speed shifter due to the limited range of the shifter not passing the range of the derailer....

I have a set of practically new 10-speed Shimano 105 dual control shifters (2007 model), that came off one of my bikes after one ride (went to a double and upgraded to DA). They're set up for a triple: $100

I also have a set of FSA triple road cranks with outboard bearings: $50

Shimano 105 10-speed cassette: $30

Shimano 105 Front triple derailleur: $25

I may also have an Ultegra rear derailleur, but it needs a new B-tension screw plate that I'll throw in if you purchase all the components above (a new plate is actually only a few dollars).

I have a ton of other road parts as well, so let me know what you need.

Oh, and don't forget, if you don't want to piece a bike together, you could buy my complete GT with Dura Ace parts and Mavic Cosmic Elite wheels for about $850 - ready to ride with SPD-R pedals!
