speaking of hayes i have a question... the hayes strokers that are white and blue are the top model strokers that are about the stroker ride brakes right?
haha that was confusing

My Hayes nines are workhorses. Pounded on them for almost two years and never done anything except change pads. I've been very impressed. Not the lightest brake in the world but possibly the best value out there.

My Hayes have been bulletproof. Don't know where all the hatred is coming from.

I haven't had a problem with mine either. Actually been really good since purchased back in '02...yepperz, they are old now. Time for some new ones. If I were to buy another set of inexpensive brakes, these would be it (not the chrome though...it's too hollywood).

lovin' mine, i had an early problem with a stuck piston, but since that, no complaints whatsoever. They bring me to a stop with utmost predictability.

there good for the price. but there are many other brakes out there that have better modulation and dont squeak everytime you tap the brakes.

also DH is my main discipline when it comes to mtb, so i need strong brakes. sorry for ripping on everyones brakes. but i just bought a set of formula puros ($$$$$$$). see how they do.

I'd guess that's not the fault of the brake.

I am running them on 2 bikes with no squeak/noise issues. They must not have been set up right?

little update... first ride out at anderson today i had a bit of a get off and the lever got pulled out and it shattered a washer that held the lever pin to the master cylinder. it's just a matter of getting this new washer from hayes, but i see this as a very weak link in the design.

update on my update...

called up hayes today and had them mail out 2 washers and 2 clips. they were totally cool about it and said, by design, that part is supposed to break to prevent damage to the master cyclinder when a hard reverse torque is applied to the lever. they sent them out free of charge, great customer service!
