Default BikesDirect.com ?

Does anyone have any experience with BikesDirect.com?

I'm thinking of getting a road bike for my dad for Xmas. I'm hardly rolling in dough so it's got to be cheap (and this counts for like five Xmas presents!) But I also know you have to spend some coin for a decent road bike. I'd normally buy from a shop, but the prices at BikeDirect look hard to beat and including shipping.

I'm considering the one in the photo for $700 (details at the link if you're interested)

Bought my bike from bikesdirect on ebay. Great communication and fast shipping. The quality is pretty good. You just have to put it together and adjust things yourself.

That's a pretty good price. I have Tiagra shifters on my Cannondale roadie and they work fine. The only thing I might eventually upgrade on that bike are the brakes if he is on the heavier side (if so, I would throw some Ultegra brakes on there), otherwise it looks good to go.

Looks like a pretty good deal.

Don't you have any connections at a LBS that could set you up?

If not I think that's a very good deal.

Thumbs up

You should REALLY check out The Path sale in the morning. I know they have at least a couple of road bikes that may be in your price range.
