Minimum Post Count to Post For Sale Ads

I have been on this site for a while. I would love to sell a frame and fork here but have no idea how many times I've posted. How do I find out?

I'm new and just learned about the post requirements, here's one more for me I guess...see what you learn when you read.

I'm glad there are classifides here and that they are free, however, I think the 25 min post count may be a little excessive.... there are alot of people that just don't have alot to say... I've been on here awhile and just got 26 posts (I think this will be 27). I've gone on a couple STR rides and bought a few things off the classifides..

I guess I just view the classifides as a service to all the members of the board... When I post to sell stuff it should be a good deal and thus everyone will win...

I get that you want to keep worthless spam from cluttering it, however, isn't that what mods are for???

Oh well, I'll go post some frames now...

A couple recommendations:

Nix the post count minimum and place a 30-45 day waiting period AFTER your sign up. After the 45 days you can post stuff for sale and hopefully become a member of the STR community without posting random B$ to bring your post count up.

I wish you could also leave some type of feedback for the seller/buyer regaurding the transaction.

I look at "Thanks earned" on anyone that I'm thinking about buying from. If the number's high, I feel a little more confident that I won't get ripped off cause they've been around and have been active in our little community.

The biggest challenge for people trying to sell stuff is time. They don't have the patience to wait, they must sell whatever it is now. The waiting period capitalizes on this weakness forcing them to either become a particiapting member of the community or using Craigslist, paying to sell stuff on MTBR or Ebay. This site is way to good to allow post whores and the fly by nighters. Lurkers are great though...if your a luker, you'll wait, and then join in on some rides which is perfect.

Mods have lives too. And unlike other MTB websites, the mods here are all extremely avid riders who would probably rather ride than baby sit.

Soooo. The way I see it there are several outlets for selling bike stuff quick: Ebay, Craigslist, eM-Tee-Bee-aRrr, and RideMonkey to name a few.

But there is only one STR where the active members are like a family, not a business. And we don't need spammers, profiteers, or the like.

I like the min post count. I also wouldn't mind adding a 30 day waiting period as well, but that is up to Gonzo

Any legitimate question/thought/comment, no matter what, is more than welcome. It doesn't always have to be about bikes either (i.e. The Pub).

okay guys, im gonna lock this thread. very good points have been brought up. boats had a great post a few posts up.

bottom line is, george made the minimum post count to encourage people to participate. if you dont want to participate and just post your stuff for sale, then by all means post it for sale elsewhere.
