Just wanted to say hello to all you STR rider's and that I have enjoyed reading all of your posts on this site! My name is Erik and I just recently found this site via the Warriors Society's email updates. I have been riding mtb's since 1990 but have just recently been able to get back in the saddle. Since crushing two disc's in my lower back and having fusion surgery, I was not able to ride for over a full year. According to my neuro-surgeon I still should not be riding off road. But I was going crazy without having a little dirt action, so just started back on some easy trails in El Moro. Still need to take it easy, no major hucking for me, unless I want the titanium rod's holding my back together, to come un-screwed. I live in Long Beach and prior to my surgery loved to ride El Moro, Aliso, Carbon, Santiago, SJT, Big Bear, PV, Turnbull and anywhere that had dirt singletrack. I am hoping to resume ridiing these locations asap. Looking forward to meeting you'all sometime soon.. Happy trails.. E

You have time still to go get one, the ride isn't till 3pm. Part of the fun is dressing up. Just pick up a wig or some make-up or a mask and some funky clothes. It'll be fun. Everyone dresses up. |

If I'd listened to my doctors... I wouldn't be riding either. The riding is actually pretty good for the body... keeps the blood moving... it's the crashes that are bad for it (understatement!) My doctor finally gave up and said, "Gregg, just try not to crash so much!".
Good advise... sometimes hard to follow ![]() See you out there...

thanks everyone for the welcome posts, that was very cool.. The advice is also well taken, I really really don't want to have this surgery again, ever.. and yes, the riding part is great, it gets good blood into the areas that still need healing, its those damn crashes that ruin it...: ) So I stay pretty carefull out on the trails, so if one of ya's gets on my a$$, just whistle or ring your bell or something and I will move right out of your way.. So far I have survived the more technical trails of Lizards, Rattlesnake and that other ST off the ridge near BFI, back by the big houses, with no falls, a few dips, but I was really exstatic with just being able to get down those trails.. can you dig?? Thanks again everyone and hoope to ride with some of ya soon.. Happy Trails.. Erik
