Default Another new San Diego rider

Howdy everyone. With all of the other posts from San Diego, I figured I would chime in also. I'm not a Mass transplant, although my brother does live in Hopkinton, MA.

Currently, I'm usually just riding weekends around Penasquitos on my Kona Blast, but I'm looking to increase my ride time b/c I just started a job down the street from Mission Trails I've also been know to ride the Fully Loop from time to time when I go visit my parents as I grew up behind Parks Jr. High.

If anyone has any advice on a FS around the $2,000 $2,500 range I could really use it. So far I'm leaning towards the Giant Trance X1, but any other suggestions would be appreciated. Looking forward to joining some of the SD rides that have been posted.

Hit up the Bicycle Warehouse in PB for Specialized closeouts. There's probably pretty slim pickin's by now, but worth a shot.

Thanks. I was there on Saturday, and the pickins' were pretty slim. I guess I should have been there a couple of weeks ago when they announced the close outs.

I do need to get up to BB to try one out. I've been eyeing the 2007 demos at Full Cycles and those are definitely in my price range ($1,999).

Also a good option. Check out http://www.adrenalinebikes.com

There's another member on here that is getting a new 575 from them for a good price.

I'd think about getting something bigger than the Trance. I started out pretty cross country out here, and alot of people seem to naturally progress into riding bigger, more technical stuff. I bought a Giant Reign, and it can peddle like a XC bike, and tear up the downhills too... and they are pretty reasonably priced, compared to some of the other stuff out there (I got mine for $1250). Mines a Reign 3, but Bicycle Warehouse has some pimped out Reign 1 and 2s around the $2k mark for sale.

And come out for some rides too! Maybe you can show me around Penaquitos after work sometime, I've never really ridden there.

The X1 is actually a 5 inch travel bike, so it's not too bad (I think) for what I ride. I also want to try out the Dawg, the 575, and the BlurLT.

Funny, I was thinking someone could show me some more of the trails around PQ. On Saturday, I rode around 15 miles, and I didn't feel like I hit all that much. I'd be happy to meet up and show you what I normally ride (although it's really not that exciting but it gives me a good workout).

It seems like it's spec'd really nice. I went out riding on one at lunch today at Cal Coast, and it felt pretty good. I just have to get used to the full squish. Coming off a hard tail with a crappy fork, it's a bit of a change.

With your budget, you should be able to get into some nice wheels!! I test rode the Trance X1 and it is pretty dope. Not a bad choice for the trails around here.

My primary rig is a Yeti 575 so I am slightly biased to that though

I may not be able to make Big Bear this weekend. Anyone up for Los Penasquitos this Sunday afternoon?

It seems like there are a lot of people who swear by the Yeti. I guess I really need to get up to Beyond Bikes to try one out.

I would highly recomend it.... Great bike Fo Sho I had a 575 but ended up doing the 29er thing and just ended up back with another Yeti.. Went ASX this time but the 575 is a lot of Bang for your Buck.. Something about the way Yeti does their suspension just seems bottomless

Don't remember seeing any on demo when I was up there last week, but it's worth a try to call them. Or, Zumwalt's by SDSU has some...Eric is a cool guy, he'd prob help you out.
