Angie & Dave from MoVal

Default Hi! I'm Angie

Hey everyone! I'm Angie and my husband is Dave. We have a 4-month-old daughter named Madeline (Maddie for short) and we just got back into riding our bikes after a long break (pretty much since I started driving). We try to go at least twice a week for a 4-6 mile ride, usually in the afternoon/evening. We'll be getting a bike trailer for Maddie in a few days and really looking forward to not having to leave her with a sitter every time we ride!

Anyone have any fun rides in the Moreno Valley area? We mostly ride the roads but are beginning to get into the dirt... when we don't have the baby with us of course.

Try Sycamore Canyon Park in Riverside. Take Central Ave south off the 60/215. you'll see a dirt lot with a white picket fence on the east side with the trailhead right there. Lots of fun trails there. Be sure to ride early or late since there is no shade anywhere.

Hi Angie, Dave and Maddie, welcome to the site. I don't know that area at all, but I'm sure they'll be others piping in that do. If you're ever in So OC, let me know. there's plenty of trails here that you can tow Maddie along.

Yeah, Sycamore Canyon is pretty much it. The locals have taken me on a number of rides out that way and they are okay, but I prefer mountains with a break in the action under the trees. Still there is Box Springs and "M" trail which is a really fun techy trail. There is some others, but I am unfamilar with trail names.

I would suggest the bike path, Santa Ana River Trail, to start with your little girl. They have completed several miles out in Riverside now. This will give you an opportunity to have a safe area to ride until you get used it the trail. Then try Bonelli Park. The inside loop is beginner friendly. And what about Paris Lake, that's out in your area. I have no idea, but can you ride around it? Just a few suggestions so you know what to expect with a trailer and a small child.

If you don't know where Bonelli is or need a guide, let me know, I'll be happy to play trail guide. Food and photos are extra...(just kidding)

Default Welcome

We too have a Madeline/Maddie. (she's 5 now), starting at about 3 months old my hubby rode all the time with her in a Burley Trailer, He would strap her car seat in backward (like in the car) and took it pretty slow no dirt for them it was sidewalk and cement trails.

Like cyclecc said the Santa Ana River Trail would be great trail for your family to ride. It might be a bit far for weeknights, but on the weekends the trails if full of everyone from serious roadies to families out having some fun.

Welcome Angie & Dave, my wife and I have a 10 month old son and we have had him in a Burley trailer since he was 4 months old. We buckled his car seat right into the trailer and he has done great. He has been riding mostly off road behind our tandem. We are going to be doing the newbie ride on the 16th in Fullerton and if you could find a sitter you should come on out, it should be a blast.

Welcome!!!! I live in San Jacinto and know a few trails in the area, though none that would be kid trailer friendly. Let's hook up and ride sometime.

Little do you ladies know, but us guys have our own board as well. It's invite only too. There, we can feel free to belch in the middle of our posts without shame.

Hello Angie! welcome to the group. I've just discovered this forum in the past few weeks after being on "other" MTB sites. Everyone is friendly and helpful. And, as you can see by people's avatars, everyone has a good sense of humor and don't get too offended at what you say.

I actually ride Jedi Trail/Houlda Crook from the Loma Linda side. The trail can also be accessed from Reche Canyon Rd. as well. It might be a bit much to pull the little tike around on, but if you want to have a little fun yourself - enjoy.

Lake Perris also has a TON of family friendly trails that are more than appropriate for small children to be pulled on. We have actually riden the trails behind Perris and took a dip in the lake after we were finished riding - a nice feature.
