All Access Pass
|
June 6, 2007
PLEASE READ!!! SORRY, CHANGE OF PLANS!!! YOU CAN ONLY PURCHASE 2 PASSES PER CUSTOMER. ![]() This afternoon, I called Big 5 and Sports Challet. They both said the rules have changed this year (as indicated on their passes). You can only purchase 2 adventure passes per customer ($30 for the first pass and $5 for the second). It looks like it will be $17.50 each if you go in with someone else. It looks like the only way to do this is if people can hook-up with others in this forum. I think the state caught on to multi-passes. Sorry guys... I tried. Even the forest ranger told me different so I called to confirm... and it's true. If everyone can respond to others on this list to go halfs at least they can save $12.50 off the price of a $30 pass. P.S. I'm only buying two on Saturday... one for me and one for Chaos (Who is meeting me at Sports Challet on Saturday morning just before they open at 9:00). PLEASE TRY TO HOOK-UP WITH OTHERS ON THIS FORUM/THREAD. __________________________________________________ _____ I just came back from riding the San Juan Trail (Lower San Juan Campground) and I almost got a ticket from a forest ranger for not having an adventure pass on my car. He said I can purchase one from Sports Chalet for $30 and $5 for each additional pass. He said the best thing to do is to go in with friends on multiple annual adventure passes to save money. Does anyone want to go in on annual adventure passes and save $$$? I figure if you park and ride the San Juan Trail just a few times, it will pay off in no time. Just respond here (i.e., post a threaded message to this) and let me know if anyone can make it to Sports Chalet in Mission Viejo (Google Maps 27551 Puerta Real Mission Viejo , CA 92691) at 8:50AM next Saturday, June 9 to purchase multiple annual adventure passes at discounted prices. I will wait in front of the store from 8:50 until 9:00AM (before they open). Hope to see you there! P.S. Bring cash and we will determine the discounted cost for an annual pass. Hopefully, we can get the price down to $10 or $5 or maybe even cheaper (... depending on how many people show up). If you want to go riding after the purchase, I'm on for a quick ride. P.S. If you can't make it on Saturday and there is enough serious participants, maybe you can PayPal me after I find out the total savings. I just want to get enough passes so it's low enough for everyone. JUST LEAVE A MESSAGE HERE and EMAIL ME a PHONE # so I can contact you if you can't make it on Saturday and would like to go in on this. I live in San Juan Capistrano and work in Mission Viejo. I just need to know by Friday evening how many people are serious. I just don't want anyone to leave me out to dry with a bunch of extra adventure passes if they can't make it on Saturday or don't follow through on this. If you are really serious, I will purchase extras and pass the savings on to you (depending on how many people participate). I ride Aliso Woods Canyon after work during the weekdays (i.e., Tuesdays and Thursdays). I can meet you there after 4:30PM and pay by cash or you can PayPal me and I can just send it to you. I live in San Juan Capistrano and I work in Mission Viejo. I can let you know next weekend how much it will cost (again, depending on how many people want to do this at the time of purchase on Saturday morning). I just don't want to pay full price. It's a great way for everyone to save and use the savings on the finer things like upgrading bike parts, epic summer bike trips, etc. ![]() Last edited by kbteachme; 06-06-2007 at 03:24 PM. There is a pass you can purchase at O'Neill park and I'm sure at other places as well, but O'Neill has them for sure. It's an annual pass and must be purchased in Jan. The price is 1/2 in Aug. if you can wait till then. Here is the info.
Annual Day Use Pass and Beach Decal Regional Parks (Wilderness Park Decal Included): Which includes: Aliso, Whiting, LCWP Park Entry Pass $55.00 Beach Parking Decals: Beach Parking Decal $55.00 (Handicapped persons displaying a specially designed DMV handicap placard/license/decal are not required to purchase a beach parking decal for Aliso Beach Park, Capistrano Beach, Dana Point Harbor Puerto Place - 2 lots, and Salt Creek Beach. For more details on these locations, download the listing of purchase sites or call 714-973-6865.) Note: Passes valid Jan. 1 - Dec. 31 of the calendar year issued. The two-digit number in italics on the front of the pass and decal designates the year. All annual passes purchased between Aug. 1 and Dec. 31 will be discounted 50%. Combo Pass Park and Beach Decal Purchase: Park Entry Pass and Beach Decal $80 I called El Morro and they have a pass for $125.00 that is good for ALL STATE PARKS and BEACHES, NOT COUNTY/CITY. I guess there isn't a "GOLDEN TICKET" anywhere that allows access to every place. Even if there was, you still couldn't get into Disney. |

I am in for the Forest Pass. If it can really get down to $5 or $10 that is awesome. I get tickets everytime at Maple Springs and San Juan.
KB: Not sure if I will be there Saturday but I also live in San Juan Capo so maybe we could make an arrangement. Thanks!

Hiya Von-Skipp,
What do you do with the tickets? I've been a detractor of the Adventure Pass demonstration program since they implemented it 10+ years ago. I've received a few "tickets," that if you read them carefully, aren't really tickets. I don't know what they are, but I just throw them out. The last one I got was about three months ago. It said something about the options for getting a pass, but it also said that they won't do anything for offenders who don't make a habit of it. With Kirk's generous offer of getting passes at a reduced rate, I'm gonna comply with the outdoors tax. Rob |

Here's a link for info on that other pass and where it is good at. Looks like you'll need both passes, cause the one that's good for the county parks and beaches is not the same as the "Adventure Pass" you need for Maple Spring, San Juan ie.., Wilderness Areas> Angeles, Cleveland, Los Padres & San Bernardino National Forests, Would be good to have both, especially if you ride most of these areas as I do/will.
Pass Information Sheet 05.pdf Approved Fees 2004 Abridged(7).pdf So on Aug 1, the price drops to $40 for the combo parks and beaches Last edited by genusmtbkr5; 06-06-2007 at 02:09 PM. Reason: Added price schedule |
