Default Hi guys, from a retired old schooler BMXer

Hi guys!

My name is Adam and I just started back into riding. I am a true MTB newbie but have found that my old BMX years of riding have really helped with my downhill stuff.

Its funny, I now find excuses to ride my bike. Well I just wanted to say high.

Welcome Adam!

I grew up riding and racing BMX. And even more than 20 years since my last BMX race, the old skills helped me win my first DH race just over a week or so.

By the way, where are you?

It good that you wish to ride again! We've got folks hitting trails all over so you can really keep yourself busy, and you'll get in real good shape!

What do you ride?

Were you there on Sunday, March 11? Yup, I finally did it. I went to ride the course Saturday afternoon after riding moto in the desert. I met up with a couple friends and had a blast chasing them down the exp/pro sections. Since I my pace was right there with them (they race semi-pro and women pro), I figured I'd do ok. So I decided to wake up super early (time change) and show up and race.

That's a good suggestion: We should have a BMX forum!

Kind of deviating a bit, how about a BMX/MTNX forum, since many of us would also ride mtb at a BMX track/jumps?

Not sure if I've created or just fed the monster.

Sorry for highjacking this thread adam; you seem to be causing trouble already

Default Hi again guys!

Hi ya guys!

First of all I want to say thank you for the responses back you all seem very welcoming ! Ahh sorry I was not able to respond back to any of your posts I just got back from New Orleans last night. I need to detox after this weekend. My close friend from grade school and high school got married. It was my first time in New Orleans. I did the Katrina tour thier and wow I am just so glad that I live in So Cal.

Anyways that would be cool if their was a old school BMX and freestyle flatland/vert area. I will try to dig out the old school pictures of me on my Hutch Trickster with my mullet hairdo and the OG Oakley Factory Pilot sunglasses .

As far as the bike I ride I am a newbie and I was not sure how far I wanted to get back into riding so I just bought a GT Avalanche 2.0. It was last years model and it was a great intro bike. I am already wanting to get a better bike. For now I just may upgrade my front suspension fork, other than that I am happy with the bike for now. Then again I started thinking that if I upgrade my suspension I might as well save up more money and just go ahead and get another bike.
