Default Probably should done this by now ...

Been lurking here for a while and just recently registered, but haven't bothered to formally introduce myself.

I'm a longtime rider (15 years now) and live a hop and a skip from the Fully Loop, though I don't ride there very often. Can typically be found a couple nights a week after work at Santiago Oaks, and weekends anywhere ranging from SJT to Aliso/Laguna Coast to the San Gabes. ... Not that I'm doing ANY riding these days--had surgery four weeks ago to repair a badly busted collarbone (stupid crash on the fenceline trail at Oaks), and I don't foresee being back on the bike till May or so.

Anyway, i've really grown to enjoy coming here for the great local ride reports, sense of community and lack of aggro attitude you get on so many other sites. I recognize a number of you from the trails but have never met you, Pain Freak excepted (Hey, Mike). The great content here helps keep me sane during the long slog back from injury, and I hope to meet up with some of you for a ride sometime after I bounce back. Gabriel Zink's Anaheim Hills ride sounds particularly intriguing.

See ya.

I'm sorry to say we've already met the quota for new people today. Could you come back tomorrow? Just kidding! Welcome!

I'm also a hop and skip from the Fully Loop, and I've been riding there on mountain bikes since 1994 (on a GT RTS), but unofficially have been riding on parts of the loop since well...the early 80s. Even spent some time in Honda hills in the 70s. Were you there for that? By chance are you an old BMXer from the Parks days?

When you do ODB, don't put your hand out.

Hey welcome aboard. I'd heard about the crash, sorry. Hope you're doing okay. This is a real cool site. Jump on in and have some fun. Give me a holler when you're up to ride again and we'll hook up.

All right, another Fully old-schooler!

In grade school, I'd pedal the BMX'd-out Stingray over to the Juanita Cook jumps (on the Loop between Richman and Valley View) pretty much every single afternoon. We had an absolute sender of a jump there, followed by a berm, a couple smaller bumps, a tabletop and then, down on the slope by the wall, a nice kickout jump (There were many crashes into the wall off that one.) I think about those days every time I ride that section of the Loop.

After those got plowed, I was all about the Parks BMX track. Was a bit of a haul cross-town for me on my Diamond Back (with all anodized blue parts, of course), but in junior high (around '81-'82) it was pretty much my second home. Couple fun races were organized there, and there were some pretty awesome riders. One crazy kid used to launch over the steps down to the running track. Next time you cruise by there, imagine how harsh a landing that would be on a BMX bike.

We'd also pedal through the old Union old fields trying to launch the motorcycle jumps there (is that the Honda Hills you mentioned?). Of course, that whole area is long gone now.

Ah, memories ...

Default Welcome...Welcome!

Always good to have another rider officially join the tribe. We're a pretty diverse group. I'm one of those tribe elders that tries to keep these young studs from getting too cocky...not that's that a bad thing!

Look forward to meeting and riding with you soon.

Heal quickly brother!
