Hi Everyone,
Just officially signed on to STR. I've been riding for a while now with some of the ERMTB boys, mainly Scott (STJunkie), (Pain Freak) and (Good 'ol Spappy) . I've had the opportunity to ride with some of you already. Dean, Sara and Jose. I've noticed that there seem to be a handful of gals in this group. That's a welcome change! Always looking for new people to share the adventure with. I'm in Santa Monica but have had the privilege of a great trail guide (STJunkie) and explored many of the trails in the Santa Monicas, San Gabs and even some of the San Bernadino mountains. I've yet to make it to the OC but look forward sharing the trails with you exploring some new dirt. |

Hi Lynn, First thing you gotta do is change that font. You already know how freekin blind I am. This site rocks, and you'll see quite a few others that you've rode with here too. Since you haven't done much riding in the OC, you might want to check out the Pushakona ride. It's a killer ride( or walk) for some of us. But it'll still be fun. Tell STJunk to come on down too. |

Good to see ya posting Lynn.
Good idea Mike, her first ride in OC and you want to take her on a death march. No the other hand I know that girl can put down some time in the saddle. Dean

my LA favorites are SART, Mt. Pinos, Chilao, and the Backbone in Malibu but I like to ride all over, I ride the Santa Monicas, and all though not as often I've done some of the San Gabriel stuff as well, Strawberry and couple others there...

Welcome, I just signed up yesterday. And I'm a West-sider too. I ride a lot in some of those areas you mentioned--and my girlfriend rides as well. Maybe we can meet up for a ride sometime. Check out my first post, it says a bit more about me, under "introduce yourself" and "new west-sider"

Pakiha, -- Sure, I'm down. I've just started exploring the trails up in that area and really fallen in love. I keep hearing about Chantry flats so it sounds like it's time to check it out. Post it on the calender (maybe add a new thread too) and let's see if interest builds up. I just found this forum and am psyched to see it's so well trafficked.

I'm a weany when it comes to cliffs and I'm not big on vertical rocky faces that require most people to have a DH rig. Other than that I'm game for anything, given a choice scenic XC is my favorite.

Reply to SheClimbs: it sounds like you're right around where my partner Katie is. She's quite fit so she can climb and put some real miles down but she's not very confident in technical places, steep descents, riding near cliff-faces, etc.
And she frets about slowing a group down, which, frankly, she does somewhat if it's got long technical descents. But that's OK. Groups always have a variety of skill levels and waiting up for regroups is fine by me. So that's just FYI, if you're considering meeting up for a ride, you'll be in good company. Plus, not to speak for others on SCR, but I would bet most others are fine with -- and have come to expect -- a wide variety of ride levels in any given group. - j |
