Default New Rider. Starting to pick up MB'n again

Hey everyone!

I have recently had the itch to start mountain biking again and this site looks like a valuable resource tool for my biking future. I live right next to Chino Hills State Park in Yorba Linda so I have done many of the XC trails that the park has. From 1998 to 2004 I vacationed in Lake Tahoe and rode Northstar Village for a few days each time. Great freaken fun that was.

I ride a 99' GT avalanche hard tail but I desperately want to upgrade to a full suspension kona, specialized, giant etc. so I can attempt to ride some of the more technical trails in the Cleveland National Forest. However, I understand that many of those trails are still damaged from last years fires.

Anyways, I look forward to discussing mountain biking with yawl. I will leave you with a story about my biking experience today.

I decided to ride in Chino Hills State Park by doing the big loop around the park. I was about 3/4 of the way through my journey (about 14 miles) but then I decided to try the eastern most side of the south ridge trail to get back home. I did not realize that there was about 3-4 miles of a hill to climb to the peak so about half way through the climb I drained my whole camelbak and had to walk half of it because of my exhaustion. My round trip was 21 miles in exactly 3 hours. Pathetic!
