My wife and I ride most Saturday mornings (some times Sunday, depends on when the Aunt can babysit) you are more then welcome to join us on a ride. Never anything to technical but enough to learn on and mostly in the Simi/T.O. area.

Just remember ...

Mountain bikers LIE.

There is always more then "one last hill".

There will be climbing all day

It's a lot further then 'just over that hill"

We are doing an easy day, means be ready for an all out all day long fast paced difficult ride.

Everyone rides this section, really means "You should probably walk this section"

Just a little exposure, means you'll be riding a ridge with a six inch wide trail with 200 foot cliffs on both sides.

We will be starting at 8 am really means we might get rolling by 9.

and there's a few more, but you get the idea. Outside of this, the riding is great and you're going to love it.

Just for the record, roadies are no better. They lie too. They'll tell you that there are no more hills, and next you know, you're climbing to the ski lifts on Baldy.

That is very sweet of you, thank you. I would love to come out and check out T.O. and Simi sometime. I'll warn you, though...when I say I'm a newbie, I mean it. I'm still drooling over fire roads. I was so excited to ride to the Overlook on the Reseda/Tarzana fire road. A sweet guy got me to not walk my bike down a particularly steep descent there. For those of you who know the area I'm speaking of, you will likely laugh at that, but I had to walk that the first time I rode it! He then got me to attempt the Cabarello Cyn Singletrack (he's a very experienced mtn/road rider who is very patient and kind). I fell three times and walked most of it. I don't know how you guys have that kind of courage! Single tracks are not in my (near) future.

from OC and been trying out the roadie thing. It's pretty fun so far and will be doing the amtrak century tomorrow.

You'll love the fact you don't have to worry about cars on single tracks.

Hey, good luck on the Amtrak century. I've ridden that (only not the organized, but a self supported version with friends). It's a blast to ride your bike the distance, jump on the Amtrak and then enjoy Fat Bastards all the way back. You're going to have so much fun!

hey! im a fat bastard! seriously, try chatsworth, theres fire roads, semi-techy jeep trails, and rock gardens, all close to civilization. and on the single tracks, go faster and its alot easier.
