Tallest rider ever?
|
Hey guys, I was referred to this site by JeffJ, and just wanted to formally introduce myself. My name is Sean, and I'm from the Santa Clarita area. I used to ride on a regular basis 5-6 years ago, and have taken a hiatus since then. I've decided to get back into the scene again and hit the trails. I'm not your conventionally sized rider, being that I'm 6'10" 265, so gear is a little hard to come across for me, and I'm not as faster as some of you smaller guy.
I primarily ride a 21" Trek Y-33 that's decked out with Shimano XT hydros, and mainly XT/XTR components. As of late, I've been considering investing in a Gary Fisher HiFi Pro 29er, as I've heard they are great for tall riders. Anyways, since I've been out of the game for so long, my conditioning is not what it once was. I used to regularly go on 25-30 mile rides, and I'd like to get back to that point again, but for now I'd like to ease into it and find some beginner trails around the Santa Clarita area. Here's some pictures of my main rig: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What the hell is with all of you from Santa Clarita and being giants? I mean, 6-10, 6-5, 6-7, what the hell is in the water?
Wow, I didn't know there was still Y's still in one piece. I was certain every single last one of them snapped in half and most while hanging from garage rafters. ![]() Welcome. Now get our and ride your bike, damn it! ![]()

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. It's refreshing to find the smaller, more friendly forums that cater to your geographic area. I hope to be getting back in the saddle on a regular basis so I can experience the adrenaline rush that comes from riding.

Hey Sean, I've ridden with Jeff from time to time and am also another tall rider (6'3") from up here in the SCV. If you want to try out a XL Fisher 29er sometime, let me know.
By the way at 6"10", you may want to consider going custom, especially if you really get back into the riding thing. |

Hey Sean, nice to have you.
Were pretty close in size ,I'm a tad under 6'11", just a tad. Hope to ride with you someday. I used to live in CC, off White Canyon on Nadal St.

If you decide to make me up on the offer, take the bike in the dirt to really get a sense of it. If you just wanted to run it up and down the pavement, you could just go over to the local GF dealer (Valley Cycles). They have some XL 29ers in stock. |
