Default New and need some advice..

Hi Everyone

I'm pretty new to mountain biking but I've become addicted pretty quickly...I've been looking through your sight and have really enjoyed reading ride reports and in general learning more about the mountain biking community.

Quick question-I'm going to visit my Aunt and Uncle in LA-anybody know of any good relatively beginner trails in that area that would be fun to ride?

Thanks!!

Katie

Welcome to the gang! Can't help you with the LA area (Malibu perhaps?), but you'll run in to a LOT of us riding in south OC!

Try Sullivan Canyon:

Right off Sunset and a pretty good easy route.

What he said. Head over to dirt Mulholland, about 10min from the San Fernando side and about 20min or so from the Hollywood side from the Hollywood hills. Sullivan and Westridge both connect to Mulholland and they are all good beginner trails with lots of traffic.

"Dirt Mulholland -
Take the 405 freeway into the Sepulveda pass and get off on Mulholland. Take this west a mile or so and the pavement will suddenly turn to dirt. This road runs the spine of the southern Santa Monica mountains with views of the San Fernando valley on one side, and the beach front westside on the other. This is a major connector to many fire roads and trails in the area like Kenter, Westridge, Sullivan, Cabellero, Reseda, and Temescal. Thomas Guide page: 631"

PM Chocobochick. She lives in the area also. She's familiar with the Sullivan trails and can show you around. If not, PM me and I'll take you on a tour of Sullivan. That's where I take all my newbie rider friends for their first rides.

Check out davemw's local trail map (click on the map then scroll up to the LA area -- there looks to be some H'wood Hills trails, but also lots of nice ones to the west, Sully, Chesebro, etc.):

PM Pato, he'll show you some good riding there. Or Burner if schedules conflict.

Sure, excuses excuses-you were at work so you had to use the biggest most obnoxious one you could find
Not to worry, it's always more fun when someone's giving me a hard time.
