Hey there...
I moved here in September from VA but just barely found this site. I've been biking, pretty much only in the summer, for a few years now. At the moment I'm just trying to get back in shape! The girlfriend and I ride a few times a week after work on the road, and I want to start hitting actual trails. I just have to find 'em! I can't believe how many different options there are here. Since the Santa Monica Mountains are closest to me I was gonna check it out sometime. She's still a newb so we have to start easy. Hopefully soon we'll get to meet some of you guys on a group ride (if we can keep up!) |

Hello fellow west-sider.
I'm in Culver City and ride the SM's very often. For easy stuff, look up "Westridge". That is a good fun trail (fire road) with a single track option. "Sullivan" ridge and canyon are also fun, not too long and not too hard. Best part is, you can link many of the trails together to make a longer ride. Hope to meet you on the trails! -Todd (El Salt) |

Welcome !!
Maybe not so much now for your girlfriend you say is a newb, but keep this in mind. It's a regular night ride. You can always count on a crew, whether I'm there or not (and I'm usually there). I moved here two years ago and learned about most of the trails in the Santa Monicas by riding with these guys. West Side Wednesday Night Ride |

Thanks all! Took the advice and checked out Sycamore canyon. Had a great time this weekend. Good newbie ride indeed, she's kinda hooked too now. Gonna make weekday riding on the beach paths boring!
As for the night ride, I'll probably have to work for a little while so I can keep up, and I don't have lights right now ... sounds like a lot of fun though. |
