Default Temecula Noob Here!

Hello,

I'm new to this whole thing and currently looking for a high quality Mtn Bike with a budget up to around $1100, so if you guys have any suggestions, shoot them my way!

Name is Jeremy and I live in the Temecula area. Have been riding BMX for quite sometime and feel it is time to start hitting the trails!

Forgive me in advance for any stupid questions I may have.

I'd say find a good HT (hard tail) from Specialized or Trek. Visit IE Bikes in Murrieta and talk to Matt (he is usually in Tues-Sat all day). Then hit up CycoPath in Temecula and check out their stock.

There is also Redhawk Bikes on 79S (a bit smaller of a shop, but they can help you also). There's also Bicycle Warehouse off of Winchester. Not as cheap, a bigger multi-location company (as opposed to locally owned), but they have helped us with a few things.

Hubby and I shopped at both CycoPath and IE Bikes before buying both our first mountain bikes and our road bikes. We both really like Matt at IE and have had a great time with our bikes from there.

If you *really* want to check out a top notch shop, though, head over to Tustin and go to The Path. We have bought multiple bikes from them as well, and they are our go-to shop. They have more in stock that any other shop in So Cal that I've found, and are all great people and riders. They carry a huge variety of bikes and brands as well. So, if you decide to head out of town to purchase, hit them up!!

from Murrieta.

IE Bikes is a great local bike shop. Post up what you're interested in (bike wise) and I'm sure you'll get lots of feedback. When you're ready to ride, post that also, there are plenty of peeps that would be happy to show you some of the "more" local trails.

Welcome. Another option is to buy a nice used bike from someone here on the forum, you'll get more for your money that way. How tall are you? Have you had a chance to sit on a few different sized bikes?

Intense UZZI SLX Bike
2002 RFX Medium
Santa Cruz Blur

Yea, thats actually what i'm looking at doing. That is a pretty sweet intense for sale on here...
I'm 5'11", so I'm thinking somewhere between a Med and a Lg. Correct me if i'm wrong. I haven't had a chance to sit on many, except a Lg Trek Liquid 55, which was very nice.

You'll probably fit on both a large and a medium. The large most likely with a shorter stem and the medium with a longer one.

I'm 6' and most Large bike fit me, but I also fit well on a Medium Chumba XCL.

I would seriously consider that Intense and ask Lee if you can try it out on the Fullerton loop with him one of these Thursdays(Every Thursday there is a big STR group ride) If I recall correctly, Lee is 5' 11" as well.
