Default Howz'it! Greetings from Chula Vista

After about a 9 year hiatus I finally dusted off the bike and trekked through the trails around Otay Lakes. What a Blast!

I initially began riding during the mid 90's and surfed avidly as well. By 1999 I was set on my career got married and started a family. Unfortunately riding took a back seat, and was focused more on surfing for recreation. Now that my life is settling and I now live in East Chula Vista, it was only natural that i reacquaint myself with my bike and begin a new chapter.

Anyhow, enough with my rambling, hello! It's a pleasure being a member of an awesome forum. Here is a pic of my old Gary Fisher Joshua and a few other shots I captured along Lower Otay Lakes.

Hello

There are several groups to ride with down here in Chula Vista/Bonita

The group I ride with is led by Hoser.

Hoser leads a ride on Tues & Thurs @ 3:30pm for a ride about 15-20 miles, & Sun. @ 8am for rides about 20-30 miles. Every ride is different depending on Hoser's mood.

We start out of the Performance Bike shop back parking lot in Bonita.

Welcome! That's the beauty of southern California - great trails to ride/wonderful waves to surf. Can't get better than that.

As soon as I'm properly outfitted for night rides I'll keep my eye out and come for the ride.

Wow, it's awesome that Performance Bike Shop is continuing what Mission Cyclery started. I'm a bit rusty with my skills, are the group rides newbie friendly? Thanks for the invite by the way.

Performance doesn't do much about the rides, people just park there because of the long tradition and access to the trails, like Luna said there are at least two groups on sundays, Hoser's group is an advance ride, you have to be able to keep up with them and they all are excelent riders, we(Bonita Bikers) ride the same trails but at a much recreational pace, social and fun,we get newbies often and ride as fast as the slower rider, don't get me wrong we do make challenging rides but within everybodys limits. My goal is to eventyally make it to Hoser's group and I'm working on that, so I can improve my fitness and technical level.
Again both grups are fun and a bunch of great guys, you just have to pick at what level you want to ride.
Hope to see you on a ride soon.

If you remember the Mission Cyclery days you'll remeber Hoser.

As you know best thing about Bonita/CV trails is there is a billion bail out points, so if you want to go with us & get tired or not feeling it, which I doubt, you can bail out.
