Default New guy on STR

Hey, I live somewhere on the northern part of Fullerton Loop and always see riders on the horse trail. Looking to get into mtb and I've been researching a lot on a new bike. Hope to see you out there.

Welcome.

We have several regular rides at the Fully Loop including the Thursday night ride and the Sunday morning ride. Check out the Trailhead forum for upcoming rides.

Got around to checking out/riding a few bikes from Buena Park Bicycle. With the help of Hank I was able to get fitted on a medium frame. Here are the prospects:

08 Giant Rincon $419.99

08 Specalized Hardrock Comp Disc $549.99 (worth the extra 50 for 2008 model?)

06 Specalized Hardrock Comp Disc $499.99

They all fit my criteria for a mid-entry level AM HT that will get most use on singletrack and the occasional road. Fork lockout wasn't a priority. Fit overall on the bikes were great, but I think on either Hardrocks I felt more comfortable due to the shorter stem and top tube.

You should check out some of the Iron Horse bikes at Performance, they have some really good deals at performance, and they have a sale going on right now.

I'll try to make it down to FV sometime this week. Which of the Iron Horse bikes are comparable to the Rincon/Yukon/Hardrock?

In my opinion, the Iron Horse Maverick 5.5 is really similar to all three of those bikes. All three of those bikes and the Iron horse have aluminum frames, disc brakes, 100mm travel forks, etc. The deciding factor is price, and the Iron Horse wins in that criteria, it's on sale for $399.
