thanks pato, can you tell me where you usually ride?
i think, i want to give my self about 2 weeks to find a good bike... may be get a nice frame, then build with regualr parts? that way i can grow with the bike, enjoy the buildup, and learn what i like and dislike... definately want full suspension and disc brakes... would you guys say frame is most important right? |

what does FS mean? does that mean "forsale"?
well i was thinking, well i was hoping to buy a nice frame for about 300-400 used? something decent? then build from there? i did look for complete bikes, and it was about 500-600 for something that caught my eye, new or used... but i figure used will give me best bang for the buck. |

Full Suspension = FS. As does for sale, but I mean full susp ![]() If your total budget is $600 I would definitely don't go with a fully. You will get a better overall bike on a HT (hard tail). In addition to checking out the market place here (keep posting so you can post in that forum - it's necessary to have 25 posts first), look at Craigs List for bikes. There are some weird things on there, but also probably some good deals and honest people. |

okay, fs = freestlye, and xc= corss country?
yea, i think i may have to go hard tail, i think i am going to give it a few days to see if anythign comes up... i did check craigslist, but yea i am weary about buying on that site... i have heard so many bad things.. how much do you think it will be to build the bike, not including the frame (frame +fork)? |

in my experience, building from scratch is usually more expensive. But, it probably depends on what you are building and if you can get any deals. But if you are a first time buyer, it is more than likely easier to just buy a full bike.
