to all the new SD peeps. Wow, there's a lot of us nowadays. I can remember it wasn't too long ago when I was the only one.

Join us on some rides soon!! We have a Tuesday night LPQ ride almost every Tuesday night when LPQ is open. Then there's almost always a couple rides on the weekends.

Start from the carmel country dirt lot.
There's single track (not sure on the name) that goes up near where you are.
Take little waimea down into the canyon.
wagon wheel cross.
up and under sorrento
up and back down the old lopez canyon trail.
back across wagon wheel
up lucas'
do the little bean aka intestines
down cobbles
up powerlines
over to tunnels (options here include what's being called tunnels mesa which i like to call junkyards)
back to da s#!ts
back up the rest of cobbles
optional return intestines trip
down eucalyptus
back to the lot

we've made about 20mi doing something similar...

eventually, i think black mountain can be involved.
also, nappyt has been doing some recon in the way of connecting sycamore canyon.
Well, today I set out on the Motolite's maiden voyage. I met a few folks (none from STR) who were showing me around. Looking at nappyt's GPS map, I think we hit, in no particular order: waimea, lucas horse trail, middle chainring, cobbles, telephone poles, and pretty much all of the north side main trail (is that one called bridge trail?) that leads to Black Mountain Road. We went down cobbles and then eventually back up to the middle chainring somehow, not sure what intermediate trails.

What a blast. It's no LPQ epic and I still managed to burn up my legs. But hey, it's my first ride since '96. I was pretty sad to see how much housing has affected the area. I used to be able to go up the power line road and just enjoy the scenery at the top.

I didn't stay disappointed long though because I got to see a coyote on the path as I was returning home. Unfortunately, I was too slow getting the camera out and I could only see his ears and back in the distance by the time I snapped a shot.

It seems that every inch of my body is at least slightly sore but I can't wait to get out on the trail more.
