Default New rider in Victorville

Hey everybody, my name is Angelo and I live in Victorville and just started biking about a year ago.

I was wondering if anyone here knew of any good trails near Victorville. I heard there were some in Big Bear but that they might be closed?

Anyways, I'm glad to find this website and I appreciate any info anyone has.

Later
Angelo

There should be good riding out there but you guys need to get off your Motos and BMX bikes and start building some trails...ton of BLM land around those hills and it can't all be sand. My nephew has jumps in his yard in Pinyon Hills. When I ride out there I go the Wrightwood or Devils Punchbowl.

They had it in the pass but not where I am at. I think it missed us by about 400 feet.

Hey guys, thanks for the warm welcome.

Destroyer, good to see a fellow high desertian! I usually mix it up by riding on the paved roads and the desert roads, usually around Silverado High School and then futher out west. Problem is, they're mostly dirt bike trails so I hit patches of soft sand and I've paid for it with blood, literally.

I've been looking to getting into rougher areas, hopefully not to far. Where do you usually ride at?

I ride all over. I like going down to Southridge and riding there, it's really fun. But for the desert I either ride over by Hesperia lakes in Honda Valley or by the Hesperia Airport near the aqueduct there is some fun singletrack. I haven't ridden any places in Apple Valley but I hear there are some good trails with some good rock technical areas. In the summer I like riding the Blue ridge trail in Wrightwood.

To help out with the sandy areas of the desert a lot of riders run larger tires (2.35) for there XC bikes. The higher volume helps the tires stay on top of the sandy sections.

Where is Southridge? I live right by the 15 near the Victor Valley Mall, how would I get there?

Also, since I'm a beginner, which trails do you recommend so I won't kill myself when I try and cut my teeth.

Takes about 45 minutes from the mall.

Do you use google earth? I think I can send you a KMZ file that will have the trails labeled or at least give you the coordinates for some good trails. When I take beginners out I take them to Honda valley and ride the power line loop. Starts at Joshua Inn. I would say it's about a 5-6 mile ride.

I got go now, but feel free to PM me if I forget (I'm good at forgetting...)

Edit:

Also if you haven't found out the best bike shop in the desert is J & K sports. It's over in the shopping center on Amathyst and Bear Valley.

Default Another victorville guy.

I live in Victorville and have found some good areas to ride recently. If you are interested in a nice easy fireroad ride, some guys and I are gonna ride near Oak Hills road on Tuesday morning Feb 5. We aren't real fast, just like to pedal.

Also on Thursday Feb 7, we are gonna go out to sycamore rocks and try and find some more of the singletrack out there. I was out there last Thursday and it seems like it has some nice technical stuff, I just have to find more of it. PM if your interested in either ride and we can meet somewhere. By the way, I work weekends so this is the only time I can get out. By the way
