Default Ride locations and abbreviations.

There are several ride locations mentioned here that I either don't know where they are or can't figure out what the abbreviation means. Is there a list somewhere of these? Thanks

Not really... you'll just have to pick them up

OC - Orange County
SD - San Diego
LA - I don't really need to explain that, do I?
AW - Aliso Woods
LC - Laguna Coast Wilderness
SJT - San Juan Trail
BLT - Big Laguna Trail
NC - Noble Canyon
BC - Bootleg Canyon in Boulder City

Late additions:

HJ - Holy Jim (UHJ- upper, LHJ- lower)
HTT - Harding Truck Trail
PV - Palos Verdes
DC - Del Cerro
ATT - Anderson Truck Trail

STIL - Steep Than It Looks (for a steep up or down section of trail)

Were there any you had particular questions about??

Thanks for starting this thread. It probably should be made a "sticky" and stay on top? I know that when I first started up on here I had no idea what 90% of you guys were talking about

Has anyone considered making an STR wiki? Could be a great way to store all this type of information. We could include the parameters of each trail as well (where to park, where to start, the distance and ascent, can you night ride there, etc). It could be a great primer for newbs (like myself).

Geoladders is actually great in these respects. Not every area has full trail descriptions and way points, but many do (especially in OC). You can also look up a few routes (personal included) to see how far others ride and the ascent. And, trailhead directions are available for a location no matter what.

Additionally, don't forget that googling the park's website is often useful (and sometimes useless, but you never know).

There's also STIL - Steep Than It Looks.

But, that's just an abbreviation, not a trail Er, well, some trails have it.

CHSP - Chino Hills State Park
Fully Loop - Fullerton loop
Elmers - El Mirage Lake Bed
Cal City - California City
JBC - Jawbone Canyon

whoops... some of those areas are for the engine assisted 2wheelers

Also be aware of some areas have the same name... there is a 4 Corners location at CHSP and i thought another south county trail had a 4 corners.

might be easier to just post up some that you want defined... you'll get a quick response from this group

I think there are Four Corners all over the place! There...was...one at Whiting, and there's a big one up at the intersection of Main Divide, Maple Springs, and Harding Truck Trail. Or, for those of you that are abbr. savvy: the intersection of MD, MS, HTT.
