now you're splitting hairs and if you try to argue that with the Ranger you will get a definition that you may not like

Absolutely, but a valid point is brought up. I believe the signs all state "park open from "whatever" to sunset."
I used to host the FRED rides every Friday and she hated it. She would put notes on the cars letting us know when sunset was that particular evening. I was over stepping my bounds for quite a while. I really was lucky it wasn't worse.

We had excuses lined up all the time. We thought we were ready again. Unfortunately there is no "we" in Andy!

Cheers all and have a great weekend!!!!

If the reason for not allowing night riding is "to give the critters a break", then why are the Cleveland National Forest critters any different than the Aliso critters? Or, to use a closer example, why are the Whiting critters different than the Santiago Truck Trail critters? 1 street separates them.

Why should it matter if you are on a trail at 6pm in summer or winter?

Aliso is a much smaller area than the National Forest so night riding has a bigger impact on the area.

OCRider is correct.

It has to do with the size of the area and distribution of the trails.

In Cleveland you have Maple Springs, Harding, and STT all heading up in the same general direction, but with thousands of acres between them as a considerable refuge area for the wildlife.

Aliso-Woods is a much smaller area with a much higher distribution trails, with most of the trails visible from one another. If you are on Westridge at certain spots, you can see riders on Rockit, Lynx, and Cholla, plus you can see up to Mathis and T.O.W.

Definitely a greater disruption to the wildlife.

Most of the parks consider the official sunset as their enforcement point which is easily found online at any number of sites. You can get a daily official sunset time from many sites down to the minute for most locations.

Just ride at night in one of the legal areas and save yourself the possibility of an expensive citation, and save the sport any more loss of reputation.
