So, can we start from the shopping center to ride Chutes? Or will that be considered riding in Irvine Regional Park?

just tried that last night. The fire road that you would take at the intersection of santiago canyon and jamboree is closed if you try to ride it from the parking lot at the top of jamboree. I would imagine that you could access it near the damn, but then you'd have to get back across after coming down chutes.

I tried going there last night as well. Once you get passed the PARK CLOSED sign at the corner of Jamboree and Santiago, there's a smaller sign that explicitly says that Santiago Oaks is closed.

O.K., I just called Santiago Oaks and the recorded message said that all of the trails are open for all uses. So, is that a new message? or an old one?

i don't think its that santiago oaks is closed, its that irvine regional is closed. If you park at the albertson's parking lot at the top of jamboree you actually ride through irvine regional before you get to the dam which is where santiago oaks starts. All the trails at santiago oaks are open, but I'm hesitant to ride them because if I ride down chutes I always dump out back at the fire road which is in irv. regional.

May I chime in? NO! Well I will anyways. Please stay out of the closed areas, as you know human traffic can lead to invasive plants taking control over native plants. As it is at this time fountain grass, black mustard and several other plants have already had a major impact on native plants. Please be kind to nature, it will provide you joy if you let it!!!

Let me know if you rode it and how it was. I ended up sleeping 14 hours due to being sick so I missed out

I thought El Moro was supposed to be open? What happened? How did you find out it's closed?

El Morro was closed today because of the red flag alert.

That's usually why I stay away from Aliso on weekends, but with everything else closed, I may have to do a training ride there next Sat. Anyone care to join me in "The Tour de Aliso"?

Gene... you might think of coming down and riding San Clemente ... you may not get the distance but it will work you like no other trail around here. reed showed us some new single track this morning... I'm going back next Sat.

You can usually shoot a cannon off and not hit anybody on Sat & Sun afternoons... great time to rdie the park without running over people... except maybe Foo and the family out for a little hike.
