Default My progress thanks to STR!

I just wanted to share my little progress report with STR and any of you lurkers and/or newbs on the fence about joining this motley crew.

I started MTBing in June of this year. I started on the Fully Loop by myself and was a lone rider. I discovered STR and saw that Tracy (Surlygal) had her newb Fully Loop ride. I immediately joined up and showed up for the ride. It is now the end of October and how things have changed!

For all you lurkers that ride the same ole trail or you newbs looking to get into this, here is what I have been exposed to since my first STR ride in June (not in order) thanks to STR.

Fullerton Loop
Hurkey Creek
Grout Bay
Bonelli Park
Tijeras Creek
Blackstar to Beeks Place
Peters Canyon
Aliso Woods
Chino Hills
Turnbull Canyon
Whiting Ranch

This comfortable exposure would have never happened for me in this time frame without STR. Stop lurking, grab your balls and join NOW!

Godfather, Thank you.
STR, Thank you.

Great to hear. Just wait until you get back up to Big Bear. Grout Bay was fun, but there's a whole 'nother world on the other side.

Have you had a chance to get back to Grout Bay since Dean's ride?

Yes. I took my girlfriend. We skipped Greys Peak. Didn't want to overwhelm her. Is Grout Bay history?
That was my favorite of all the trails.

sweet, I feel the same about the site. Its really pushed me to learn about mt biking and riding in general, even messing with working on bikes..scary but true. Now a days I feel guilty when I don't ride.

We (Neil & Myself) saw them riding down Big Bear Blvd, and had them over

Jason - glad you made it out that 1st Newbie ride. Not only have you rode many trails since then but also have made a few new friends

You have improved by leaps and bounds and now you are considering racing some endurance events this upcoming season with me.....you are the Man from LaMancha!- that's a reference to your groovy mustache for all those youngins' out there-

I owe you a big thanks to introducing me to Miquel Jrs.that place kicks ass!!

Keep on pedaling buddy and you will love SART, pending it is open, this weekend...you are STILL going right?

Yeah, unfortunatly it's BBQ'd. Butler 2 did a number on everything back in that area. What Butler didn't get, the Slide Fire just finished off. On the bright side, there are tons of other trails waiting to be explored just north of Area 51. We (Kid A, JohnnyDirt, Jamised Out) did a 20 mile loop just a week or so ago.

Here's a photo from Polique Canyon which is just east of Grout Bay.

I have ridden with Jason and he has some skills for a newbie. I don't even think he is a newbie. He's a natural rider.

I have ridden off/on since the nineties and I still suck!!
