This morning in San Diego woke up to a thick marine layer outside.

I called my mom in Palm Springs & she said today she could smell the smoke from the fires for the first time.

For those of you that are in need of blue skies...

I went through my photos and did a blog post on some of the best blue-ness I could find:

Enjoy. I know I did.

Take care and keep a watchful eye!
on a side note, you know Todd Peltier? he's also a emergency transport nurse for choc.

just curious- he's a married in family member.

back on topic: we've been watching the kiddo intently as my wife is also an asthmatic and I've been known to get exercise induced asthma. she's actually coughing less.

I rode fullerton last night and it was good. Definitely not saying it's perfect, but it is way better than on the coast and the only dust that was in the air was the stuff we were making; no ash flying around and you couldn't smell the fires at all.

It's the small stuff you can't see or small in the air that is the most dangerous... that's why they've put out so many health warnings. This micron sized stuff collects in your lungs and can actually attack them. A very bad situation.. cause I want to ride very badly, but my wife has locked all my bikes up! Darn woman!

Your wife is allowed near your bikes?
I agree, as much as I want to ride, I just think it's better to hold off a few days.

I walked out to go to the cafeteria for lunch... the smoke is so thick in the air that you can SEE it, and ashes are falling.. there were like 15 people sitting outside!

It's not like you can't smell it.

I want to ride also, but it isn't a priority. There are a lot of people in our state that are worried about replacing everything they've ever owned. I can worry about a bike ride anytime. If I have to stay inside, that's fine. I'm just glad I have a roof over my head.

It is a good time to make sure that all the bikes are in good working order. I am so bummed today to hear about the air quality issues in Palm Springs. I have been itching to ride all week....Now this. Huge let down, but at least I am fortunate enough to have a roof over my head like Allison said....

Aliso Viejo air quality is improving due to the Onshore winds picking up....

Hope this doesn't hamper the efforts in the fight.

...Air quality is expected to improve on Friday except in areas near active fires.

Areas forecast to have unhealthful air quality today are the central San Bernardino Mountains, including Lake Arrowhead; portions of the San Bernardino Valley from Fontana to Yucaipa; the Saddleback Valley area in Orange County and the Santa Clarita Valley.

In addition to areas forecast to have unhealthful air quality, the current sea breeze condition as well as local wind conditions could create unhealthful air quality conditions in localized areas again today.

In areas where unhealthful air quality is forecast, as well as anywhere that smoke is seen or smelled or ash is falling:
  • everyone should avoid all vigorous exertion, indoors or out.....

I guess Roger won't have time to ride anyway.... New tubless tires and Sunline grips going on the Shova tomorrow!!! DH bikes getting tuned and adding new Sunline grips for Bootleg 11/10-11!!!!! I will take a nap and dream of riding!!!! No, not really, I have to redo the flooring in my dogs kennel. I guess I'll have to go buy that respirator so I can go outside!!!

From where i am (11th floor at T-mobile) you can totally see the low pressure system meet the smoke. there's a real clear line of seperation really looks neat from up here.
