Yea, The S. Sierras are smoke free. I am in Lake Isabella/Kernville and its been beautiful.

We had our 2 months this summer from the zaca fire. We had weeks at a time where the sun was blocked by the smoke.
The strange thing is...it was so far above us...it didn't seem to be a major health concern. Made for some awesome sunsets.

I commuted from S. Torrance to El Segundo on Tues and only smeeled smoke in one spot. Today smelled smoke and saw lots of ashes at the house so I decided to drive in.

Man, I can't remember when my lungs have hurt this bad. I was about 95% for the Palm Canyon ride till a co-worker told me they were getting a lot of smoke over there too. Today at work it was directly on us. The Santiago fire is blowing ash and smoke into Corona. I heard Holy Jim was buring, I hope not.

Gawd, I wish I could get a deep breath without pain!

Anyone know what it's like in the Pasadena/JPL area? I want to ride El Prieto this weekend, but not if I'm going to die in 10 years because of it.

From Page 1: Things are starting to look bad here in Pasadena, where they have been relatively clear all week.

I am an Emergency Transport Nurse for CHOC and we have been warned that it will be a bad respiratory season for the kids because of the fires. It gets worse after the fires are gone, especially for those kids with asthma or other respiratory issues.
Take care and keep a watchful eye!

I work outside so I guess I am just screwed. Now I can add lung cancer to skin cancer It really has not bothered me though. Kind of like the heat. If everybody didn't talk about it I probably would not notice it (except for Tuesday, freakin hot!). Either way I may just use this as an excuse to do nothing and lay around and drink a butt load of beer Or get up in the middle of the night so I can meet Neil (1X1 Clyde) at his insane start time on Sat

Chino Hills is OK. The AQMD data shows our area with moderate air quality. I went for a ride today. I didn't see, feel, or smell anything out of the ordinary. CHSP is still closed, so I just rode some local horse trails. Hopefully the state park will open up by Saturday.

Why does it get worse after the fires are gone? You'd think it would get better.

First post on the site.........been a lurker for awhile and have always enjoyed the threads.
Pretty nasty up here in Brentwood. Looking north from my office in Manhattan Beach, today looked like the worst day, thus far.
Funny, a guy at the gym, yesterday, asked me if I was going to ride in the next few days. When I said no, he said he was going to do a lot of riding in the next few days and looked at me as if I had no b@lls. Hope he enjoyed his taste of ash! My lungs haven't felt this $#hitty since the passing of Jerry Garcia!

Good news from the beach front....for the first time in a week I woke up and could smell the ocean. We have FOG, real actual FOG this morning, not just smoke!!!

I'm supposed to ride Palm Dessert this weekend (road), hope the air is okay there.

Yeah, but that fog is soaked in nasty particles. My allergies are generally worst when fog holds smog close to the ground. I'd imagine that it's the same with this fallout.

I got up at 5AM this morning to drive to Palm Springs to ride the '07 Tour de Palm Springs route for my October century. I got to White Water and turned around. The winds must have shifted. The air quality was terrible. My lugs were hurting in my car with the refresh turned on. The air quality is 10 times better in Pasadena.

I'm glad to head things are clearing up around the beach communities. I still have a chance on Sunday to get in my ride or else 12 months of straight centuries goes down the drain, stopping at 8 months.

Palm Desert is bad now? Hmmm, have to check where my ride will be then

I may just stay here.

Anyone up for SB? Maybe we can all enter the 24Hr race a bit late (get your century in there)
