Default In memorium: Fallbrook trails

The trails right out my front door in Fallbrook were wiped out by the Rice Canyon fire. I know they will be back in awhile, but they are gone now and I will have to stare at them everyday while they slowly come back.

I cut my riding teeth here. It was the first trail I ever rode and I rode here 2-4 times a week for the last 4 years. I feel like I lost an old friend. I'm man enough to admit I shed a few tears when I saw it with my own eyes.

I'll miss you while you're gone...

The view from my back deck. Everything green is now black:

What weeps the man of his pain
brings fresh blossoms from the rain
of his tears and of his soul
to fix that which has been stole.

That's a sweet poem. It describes the situation exactly.

p.s.--I asked Sladnas where he got that and he told me he read my post and it came to him. Pretty cool.

Try to look at the bright side. Now all the over grown parts and the poison oak are gone. Maybe you can find out when they plan to have trail work parties. I'll come up and help you build your home trail better than before.
