If you want to learn to jump go out and build a few tabletops all in a line, work on getting your rythem through the line of jumps, try to hit each one perfect, if you practice your rythem through jumps, it makes you a better/faster rider, plus jumping is fun.

I reccomend MTB Fundamentals DVD...lots of good stuff in that vid. Next, though difficult to find locally, something like Aline @ Whistler is the mother of all jump teachers. I mean when you consistently hit 20-50 tables all in a row, you are bound to learn something and if you case them, it won't kill you. Once you got the hang, the rest is all about courage, confidence and committment. For me, it is sometimes hard to pull all of those 3 together and thats when things go wrong.

no it just gives u a bit more skecthed out jump experience. but it does allow you to move the bike up or around you( I.e. whip or x-up)
