shout out for the guys on front line

not sure if this should be buried in the OC fire or related post but cannot stop thinking about how hard the firefighters are working on our behalf. As many have already said these guys are working at death's door, in horrendous conditions, totally whack hours and in many cases they are not even from this area but hanging in there like they lived here all along.

I was living in NYC duing 9/11 and have a few friends that died that day but what the firefighters did and went through (i think my local firehouse lost ~ 1/2 their forces that day) is just f'n crazy/amazing.

I grew up in a small town that only had a vol fire dept and everyone i knew that vol'd seemed to do so for the cheap/free beer while hanging at the firehouse playing cards (no hatin-these were my friends...they told me so). When I went to college and rented housing off campus with a few friends the landlord was a firefighter. When we accidently refered to him as a fireman we got a verbal scolding that he was a fire FIGHTER and a fireman was someone that lit furnaces. We all chuckled under our breath and couldn't understand how sensitive he was. It is only the past few years in seeing the risk these guys/gals go through for people they have never met like me that really makes we appreciate all they are doing and what a great job as well.
