I think right now they'd be pouring the beer on the fire!

Just got back from helping my mom get the animals out (she's in Foothill). On the way out, off of Masier (Bake/Portola), I was facing flames on the hill

My sister is on the other side of Whiting (off of Glen Ranch) and they're packing the animals as well. However, she said it's not as bad out there.

Funny thing is that the air is much better at my sister and mom's houses than it is here in HB--aside from the falling ash

Edit: Bake pkwy IS closed going up to Portola; Lake Forest is jammed (line to turn left onto Lake Forest from Trabuco extends beyond Bake), but I heard that El Toro is open and not too much traffic going up to Portola

Looks like part of it may have been affected, but I'm not sure how far. Per my sister, she doesn't see any flames yet and it seems clear over there (she's above the park just outside of Cactus)

www.ocfa.org will refresh often under Emergency Information. ....sigh.... sad times when we face fires like this.

I read that the fire was started deliberately - Sarah and I saw a black Honda Accord full of some rough looking kids yesterday afternoon. They were acting rather suspiciously jsut at the junction of Silverado and Blackstar. Earlier they were up at Maple Springs acting a bit oddly. Might be useful info for the authorities? (altho no idea who to tell!)

Keith, that's huge.

Here's the arson report info from the ocregister site:

He asked that anyone with information call a tip line at 800-540-8282.

I would love to find the person that started this myself and tie there hands and feet together and throw them into the middle of everything! OK. I feel better now...

You know.... I can understand many crimes. You kill somebody out of rage and anger. You rape because you hate women or were treated badly by them at some point. But arson makes no sense to me at all. I just don't get it!

Or tie them up and throw them on the ground near a mound of fire ants.

whenever it's windy like this and we're driving through the canyons (133) we're always suspicious of people pulled over on the side of the road.

Give them a call Keith you never know.

That's correct - I work there also and we've been watching the fire move down the hillside and into Borrrego. If you watch Fox11 you'll see the helicopter doing water drops right down into that ravine. Those homes are under voluntary evacuation now.

Keith

is this where u saw them?

The Orange County Fire Authority listed the cause of the fire as arson after firefighters found three ignition points near Santiago Canyon Road, east of Lake Irvine.

I'm so glad that SlowSSer isnt me

First of all they were up at Maple springs. Sat in the car for a while looking out then got out and walked off up Maple springs. 15 mins later when we'd rode down to Blackstar/Silverado junction they drove up. Parked up, looked at us. Then just drove off again. Pretty odd.
