Quick update before I head out there.
Appears to be roughly 4,000 acres so far and has hit the back of the avocado orchards where it pass over the 241. Hopefully they can keep it out of Limestone proper and the Sinks area. Very fast moving fire from the onset

JamR - thanks for the great updates!
Just to clarify: KCAL's Michelle Gille earlier mis-reported that they were evacuating Portola Hills, which is on the east boundary of Whiting Ranch. The fire is actually in Portola Springs, to the west of Whiting. They're now getting it right. I just did a little recon in the area and it's a good news/bad news thing: The winds are currently pushing it away from Whiting and from the canyons, but towards populated and developing areas. I'm really concerned because that area has a bunch of new & in-progress construction which could feed the fire and help it progress into heavily populated areas. It's going to be a long few days until this Santa Ana condition weakens and they get a chance to get these things under control. Big props to all the heroes out there on the front lines.

Home for the evening.
Pretty fast fire tonight. I knew it was not good news when I first received the call from OCFA. His first words were "Adam...you got a big one out there". Looks like currently volunteer evacuations of the Portola Springs and Orchard Hills Areas are in place. But I'm keeping my thoughts hopeful that they can circumvent it from getting into Limestone Proper, the Sinks, Agua Chinon, or Whiting Ranch. OCFA is the best.....these people are really on top of their game plan. From my visual observations and conversations with people on-the-ground, it appears a very rough outline of the burn looks something like this. Not accurate by any stretch, but as close as I can get it from what I've seen. I'm sure OCFA will have an accurate outline on their website as soon as feasible. Gonna be an interesting day tommorw, and probably a pretty depressing site.

Looks like it got worse overnight...man..this is crazy. I used to live in Northwood - right across from Northwood High School off Portola and Yale. I'm in Oak Creek (other side of the 5) now, but the smoke and ashes are still crazy.

What a mess! I am very glad I rode Limestone last week now. I thought we were going to get evacuated so Maxwell came and picked up some of my bikes and the rest are in my car. I also grabed a case of Stone 11th anniversary and a good bottle of Irish whiskey.
And I did get all the other critical things too. Good luck everyone!!!

I haven't seen it posted yet, but I heard on the news this morning that it is being reported as arson, with three beginning spots. Sad.
