No red over Live Oak at all. I'm not as familiar with the area as some others, though. But, parts of STT definitely were covered... |

is out dated. I was there last night & it is much further round then there. You can see today from the news reports it was headed into the back of Live Oak canyon. They had set up a base close to the Monestary to stop in burning back over into Hiddern Ranch & El Toro Rd. With the wind drop lets hope they can keep it out of Rose canyon & Oneil

Well, it looks like we'll all be riding top of the world for a while.
I live about 2 miles from Majeska on the other side of the canyon in RSM/MV. I can't see anything green in Whiting. It looks like a complete lose. The fire has burned all the access to Majeska and this morning has burned up the Luge and is heading up Old Camp and continuing east towards RSM. 2 water copters were finally helping Majeska. I really dont see how they stop the fire from getting to Oneil and continuing up Saddleback Mtn. As anyone that has ridin up there knows, the firetrucks just cant get to the fire. If you want the best view, go up Los Alisos, take a right on Altisima. and watch from there. Strangly i havnt seen any animals. None. where did they all go? here are some pics a friend sent of the fire as it burnt down to the bottom/exit of whiting right across the street from the Oakley factory. http://fire.estream.com/ - use the arrow at the top to go to additional pages. http://fire.estream.com/pages/IMG_0260.htm - that fence is where many of the first pictures were taken, it is no longer there.

not sure what part of the fire your friends thought was funny...would they still be posing like that next to building that collapsed after a catastrophic earthquake or other natural disaster?
![]() ![]() and this guy in the red hat pretending to be an airplane or something...i dont see the humor in it... ![]() it would be really sad if a firefighter who has been working his a$$ for the last 72 hours or so was injured trying to save some jacka$$e$ who were out there screwing around while peoples lives and livelihoods are on the line... ::rant over::

I don't think they were laughing from the humor of the situation... (which as you pointed out, there was none) I think it's probably a nervous laughter ... you never know how people are going to react when faced with excitment & high stress. But, they do indeed look like goof balls...
