Well, bad news

Received confirmation today from the Union Tribune (page A10) that my building is completely destroyed. My building is actually to the left of the one centered in frame, but the entire second story is missing (where our unit was). I guess I still haven't really soaked it in. How shitty.

I'm glad I was able to spend some time with a good group on Saturday at Noble. The experience will likely help me through the upcoming months...thank you again for everyone who called throughout yesterday. This place absolutely rocks.

Talk to you soon...

Mark...sorry to hear the bad news.

Just let us know when you are ready for a ride again and we'll go out and try to make you suffer enough to forget about it.

Let us all know if there is anything we can do!

Mark--I'm so sorry to hear that. If there's anything I can do, just let me know. Call me if you want/need to.

Whenever you're ready to ride again, my Trek is yours for as long as you need it.

The situation in Fallbrook is looking rather grim. Fire is now threatening my parent's house and is going into the SMaRT trail area. It will be an interesting day for sure.

Oh man, Mark, so sorry to hear about this. If there is anything we can do at any point, please let us know (I have a fun single speed you could borrow when you get back to that point).

I am hoping that the fire stays away...glad you are safe and got out in time.

I spent the night sleeping on the couch and listening to the radio. My bag is packed, important papers and photos are stacked up by the door, along with my bike. For right now, I am just hanging out. I heard that the fire has entered Rancho Penasquitos...hoping that the fire does not enter the canyon, though there is no indication that it will right now.

I am so very sorry for your loss. Hang in there and be gentle with yourself. Rough days ahead but it will get better!

mark- So sorry to hear that. Let me know if you want my help with any financial stuff such as insurance, tapping into retirement plans (which you most likely can do penalty free), tax breaks, etc. If I don't have answers, someone in my practice will. -B

Sorry to hear about your loss, Mark. We have some extra furniture we couldn't fit in our new place. It's in storage. Dresser, chairs, bookshelf. It's yours if you want.

Sorry to hear of your loss.

I just evacuated my sister in Bonita. She called at 4am to help her, thank goodness we got her big stuff out yesterday & today was just things that were one car load only stuff.

When I left around 9:30am there were 2 Navy helicopters getting working the fires taking water from Sweetwater reservoir. Hope they can stop the line before it hits the homes. The wind was not hardly blowing, so that was a huge.

I'm watching KUSI right now and a reporter is on Del Dios Highway Showing live footage of the west side of Hodges up in flames. The fire has crossed the highway and is headed up the hill on the back side of Elfin.

I just caught a blurb on the fire. The new update is over 1,000 homes/businesses destroyed....

I hope we hear lots of "no damage" stories.

He said he was reporting from the Del Dios community, in between RSF and Lake Hodges proper. There were helicopters on the scene.

Thanks. We are staying with friends in North Park. So far, the closest call has been on Via de la Valle. I'm thinking we're gonna be fine.

So sorry to hear about you loosing your home. We have an extra bedroom, bathroom and plenty of garadge space if you need a place to stay. You know I'm out in the sticks but you and your family are welcome. Even if its just a few nights, weeks whatever you need.

I even have a small Specilized Epic you can ride. If you just need a place to store things or hang out let me know. They never evacuated the south part of Poway and they just opened up the parts they did evacuate along Poway Rd.

I'll PM you my cell and home numbers to you.

Again so sorry I have no idea what your going through but my families thoughts are with you and yours.

No word yet. As far as I know it's still OK. Just no word on how far the fire has progressed.

I called their house and the answering machine picked up, so that's a good thing.
