Default Oragnge County and LA peeps

With all the craziness down here in SD, I wanted to reach out and check how my OC, and LA, STR family members are doing.

Life is good in Brea (but a quite a bit of ash). Worst thing so far is having to get all of the leaves out of the pool. It took about 3 pale ales to finish last night

From the other posts, it sounds like most of the STR's have faired well. Good luck to all and I hope you can move back quickly.

Compared to life in SD, things are perfect up here. Worst thing I had going was a few downed tree branches to cut up and some BB7 rotors to replace, both of which were facilitated by beer.

Stay safe down there and let us know if we can help you out at all.

It appears things are getting back to normal here in Santa Clarita. The Ranch Fire seems to be out in the wilderness area.

I'm going to try to make my way to a viewpoint to get some pics of the area to see what's burned and maybe still burning.

The conga line of helicopters and super-scoopers sipping from Castaic Lake has ceased for now and they, along with all the other necessary resources, are hopefully making their way south to help out down there. When they have water nearby, they are amazing.

Here are some shots of the helicoptors putting the finishing touches on the local fires:

The scope of the situation down there is nothing short of staggering and I hope it's brought under control soon.

Ben, THX for asking. Very eerie here in Laguna, sun is a bright orange…mixture of smoke and fog I think…hard to tell. The ocean must have been rocking last night as it was so loud it woke me up at 4am. Air is totally still...makes it weird.

LA is just smokey, same weird haze everyone is getting. But the Malibu fire is 75% contained and so it seems no imminent danger like everyone down south.

I'm at the LB airport waiting for my flight to Chi-town, back tomorrow. I am curious what all of this will look like from the air.

The sky has had a prominent 'orangey' haze/glow to it up here in Long Beach since the fires began. Ash rained pretty steadily yesterday into the evening. Other than that, nothing else to report.
