[quote=mechmann;123518]
there are people talking about 36 talas and 32 talas.
[quote]

Yeah I see that. As for me, I don't want much more than about 140mm up front, so the 36 Talas is pretty much out.

I am still not sure if my Crossmax XL wheels will work with a through axle... I am going to make some calls today to find out.

Thanks to everyone for the info!!

Pike. Though, I don't usually wind it down while riding, but I know you can do that easily on the Fox Talas.

Guero, I think the Talas' don't fully reduce travel till you compress the fork.

But if you can convert your Crossmax's to 20mm, I'd go with the Pike all the way. Much stiffer, lots of adjustability, might save a little coin too.

The PIKE is a pretty amazing fork!!!! Plush, strong, bulletproof, has multiple adjustments etc...

I use the coil version. Couldn't be happier.

Of course the XL wheels will work with a 20 mm thru axle hub. The wheels should have come with the adapters, but if you didn't get them, you should be able to buy them somewhere.

I have a Float 32 on one bike, a Talas 36 on another, and a Pike 454 Air U-turn on another. For the most part, they're all good forks. Obviously the 20 mm thru axle on the Pike makes a stiffer front end than the Float 32.

My only gripe is checking/adjusting the negative pressure on the Pike. If I do it with the bike on it's wheels, I have to be very careful to cover the rotor, because when you disconnect the pump, it spooges fork oil everywhere. Even if the bike is upside down, I still need to be careful, because a little oil still spooges.

By the way, here are the two styles of adapters for the XL wheels:

Have yu thought about the 2008 Magura LaurinFCR? 100-130mm of travel, made in Germany by Ohlins, bar mount remote travel adjust, dual arches, quick release dropouts, Albert select compression dampening (a lot like propedal), and 8 colors to choose from. Oh, and it is cheaper than the pike and the talas (i think)
