Default What do you carry with you on ride/Whats in your Camelbak?

Hey so what do you guys/gals carry with you when you go out for a ride? I am looking for what kind of things might be useful that I can get down the road. I already have tools, well minus a presta adapter or pump that can do presta.

You think thats alot check out the previous thread, there's some guys that could get lost for days and not even realize it. Not to knock them or anything, i'd be dead and coyote food why they're living like rock stars in the wilderness.

I guess ive been lucky not to have any major problems in my very short riding time.

After every incident I've had alone in the wilderness on a bike I add things to my kit. I ran out of water once so I added iodine tables, had a good crash once and blead a lot so I added extra guaze, zip ties to secure a broke spoke, patched up Pain Freak on a recent ride . I have used most of the items I carry with me.

Maven did you buy that kit, or did you put it together yourself? And do you mean Iodine tablets(to make water drinkable), or is iodine tables something else?

I purchased the kit from REI. It's great, small, and has almost everything you need. Importantly is comes with an emergency bag, which is one of the most important things one could carry with them IMHO.

Yes I mean iodine tablets to purify water. The ket with the tablets is that you cannot drink the water for about 30 minutes (depending on water temp, long for cold water and shorter for warm water) before the water has been purified.

If I know I'm going on a ride where there is a chance I will run out of water and a clean water source is not available I will take my Katadine Hiker pump water filter with me. It can fill my 100oz. bladder up in less than 5 minutes.

You can also carry any form of degreaser. I use a Taget brand citrus cleaner. It breaks down the PO oils. Use cold water to get the oils of your skin after cleaning with degreaser. I use two small spray bottles I got at Target in the travel section.

I decided to wash the camelbak tonight.
I didn't even remember that I had some of this stuff.
The Powerbar (bleh) was in there because I didn't think I had any food and it was all that was in the cupboard.
I found I had Gu, the CLIF blocks, and two CLIFbars.

I have a quick question Ill a school type whistle scare a bear or mountain lion away ? You know the big chrome one.
I was thinking about having the wife carry one of those on her Camel back to blow if she needs my attention.
I don't want it if it will attract mountain lions though.
We have voice activated GMRS radios also .
