Default High School

Ok so im sure veryone went through this.... Im totally bored of school and coming home and having to do homework. So i've been thinking and theres this type of schooling called options which is like homeschooling but you go to a class something like twice a week for a few hours to get your work, take your tests, and so they can help you if needed... i think it would be better that way i could not only get a job so i can have money to spend but i could have more time to ride, and train for races...
So has anyone been home schooled or had schooling like this and what are advantages and disadvantages of it?
Thanks
-B

Not to be too hard on anyone, but the best way to get an academic education is through traditional academia. Apply yourself in school now, so you can apply yourself to more leisure time later! I am almost 40 and work full time, goto school full time and have a family to spend time with, not much time for riding. My wife is 29, has a masters degree and works nine months out of the year and makes 3 times what I do. The moral of the story: GET A GOOD EDUCATION, stay in a traditional school, and work hard at your education now not later.

Stay in school... I mean good old 8-3 school... It's not just about learning, it's about communicating and inter-acting with others....

Yeah I have no idea about home-schooling and whatnot, because I was public school all the way baby! Pasadena High School, class of 1992 if anyone else was there.

My academic career was straight through. Grad H/S in '92, got my B.S. in '97, and my Ph.D. in 2003 (6 years is a bit long to get one, but I had some ridiculous extenuating circumstances...). Now I have an amazing job that would not have been possible without the Ph.D. I love what I do, and I get paid quite well to do it.

Be cool. Stay in school!!

d00d, just go to class. Deal with it. 98% of the population does it. Go to school, get your diploma, apply to a few colleges, get a degree ride your bike.

It's really simple, kid

dont sell yourself short man...stay and do the "time" you will look back at your high school days and have good memories that you only get to experience once. Just like college etc then you can be like most of us here and get paid good money and post while you're at work

I must be getting old because i'm encouraging the younger generation to stay in school

Brandon,
My highschool also had a similar program called options. It was only for certin classes though, i believe english and history. We did not have to go to class on Monday's as long as we had attened all the other classes and were up on our home work. I particapted my senior, it was cool not having to go to two of my classes on monday that being said i would not suggest it.

To begin with you should focus on school, i am only a few years out but i wish i would have worked harder in school. The other thing is when doing college interviews you will have to explain to them why you did not go to class as much as everyone else.

This probably was not the answer you wanted but....

wahhh...

Don't do drugs and stay in school. It'll be worth it in the end.

Especially since you get out early anyway. You have, what, 2 years left? Just do it.

Trust me, VERY few people enjoy high school. It's part of life.

My favorite day of high school was graduation. My mom has a photo of me and two of my friends running together after getting our diplomas. Definitely my best memory of the four years.

College I enjoyed a bit.

two things in that and both arent so good for me, LOL
my wokr isnt all in.... i find myself lazy when its easy...
i dont think im being challenged enough and it doesnt motivate me... its like riding down a not so steep hill and wondering why you arent getting better at DH
you would lose all motivation to go down this small, flat hill on a downhill bike until you would eventually not go riding.
now throw in a steep hill full of jagged rocks g-outs and whatnot... it challenging, keeps you thinking and its addicting...
its like me, im not being challenged so i lose interest and therefore dont want to go anymore, its almost like a waste of time....Im like a waste of a good thing. and that makes me lazy...
and as far as explaining to colleges why i wasnt at school the whole time, well lets just say, i get "sick" ALOT.

Try not to take HS for granted. I did and now I worry about retirement and wish I had paid more attention then to play more now. It's only temporary and it's not like you can't ride now anyways. Once you go to work you'll be more limited unless you get really lucky - like the folks that stuck it out .

trust, you only think that because that is where you are.

You are still in high school, there is still a lot to come.

And besides, when you are making big bucks you will the laughing at the "cool" kids who are asking you "if you would like paper or plastic"

no offense to anyone ment there
