Default The reason why STR is just better!

Ok.. So I came over from mtbr which sort of celebrates the Brands that people ride. Turner board, Specialized board, ETC. STR celebrates the RIDERS! Big difference!
Instead of separating us by brand, STR unites us as riders! That's what community is all about! Great job whoever started this thing! I'm loving the site! (PS: even Dino beats me up the hill)

you hit the nail on the head TR. lbmtb concepted this site back in oct. of 04' and made it a reality shortly after. there is a thread somewhere on here linking back to the mtbr so. cal forum in which he sought feedback back then. it is funny because there were some 'naysayers' on there saying that it wouldn't take off....'nuff said.

Tedroy- The site was started by George "The Quiet Giant" Gonzalez.... LBMTB.... The Godfather... He is LITERALLY the coolest "shy" guy I have ever met! So cool, STR members were asked what color they thought his new Turner should be!

Anyway, thank you for creating something VERY special!

Looks like Christmas came early George--- The pic you have been PATIENTLY waiting for... Well, I just posted it!

I love this site. It brings lots of riders together of all levels. No egos, just the camaraderie between riders is great. The different personalities, riding levels and social backgrounds coming together for a common cause..., to ride. I've seen this first hand on all of the newbie rides. Wheither you're a newbie, intermediate or expert rider, you still feel part of a family, which is what STR has become.

One of my favorite aspects of STR vs. the other boards is the lack of "internet courage.". This place is refreshingly free of the flaming and trolling that seems to define MTBR these days.

It's a bad idea to flame someone around here. You may need to borrow a tube from them on the next group ride!

That's so true. I think the ride calendar and "thanks" button have made this a much more personal website. I came over from MTBR as well, and it seems to me the SoCal forum over there has all but dried up in the last year.

Ahh poor mtbr. The socal forum has just been limping along for years. What's wierd is that other mtbr regional forums can be quite active and friendly - the Norcal board is very similar to STR and fulfills a similar function in the bay area, even without thanks buttons and what not. Somehow, the contentious voices seem to be very loud in the mtbr socal MTB scene - which is wierd because alot of the same people are here !

I still nub mtbr though - it is good for many things (espeically meeting riders in other states and countries) and a great source of information. But here in socal, STR absolutely rules the social scene. George, you dun good
