Thumbs up Yep...

Genus (Gene) pegged it right on. We are a family & yeah, we have our little squabbles every once in a while (think Iron Horse !!! ) and yeah, we've grown incredibly... just like a child (we are all children at heart living in adult bodies) But, I don't think I've ever been a part of a nicer group of people who just accept others if they ride a bike. It doesn't seem to matter where you're from (Bakersfield to San Diego), people bend over backwards to help each other... and that's what makes this family special... just ask those that have been on Gene's newbie rides.

There are challenges that are headed for us ... as the family continues to grow, but I know that we will rise to the occasion as there are new members, new trails and new adventures ahead for all.

Damn! I'm proud to have this family!

If my old eyes aren't playing tricks on me, I'd say it was O'Neil Park...

CORRECT!!! Brandon and I were having a discussion on the dangers of 4X (Sunday/Fontana). We BOTH agreed that if one was far enough ahead (as he would be on the Brodie Cretin), no one would be close enough to make him wreck!

... Another reason STR is better- the YOUNGSTER'S listen!!!

Keep up the good work kid!

Default ooh

I GOT IT! I KNOW WHY STR IS IN FACT BETTER than MTBR !!!!!!!!!!!!
other than obvious reasons, i know STR is better because STR is a group of riders who share an equal love for our sport and all have a few goals. Have fun while doing, be somewhat competetive, and help others along the way.
On MT*R, people are too worried aout how many posts they have, or how popular they are on stupid their stupid forum! its sad that they dont ride, are all talk, and have the time to sit behind a desk and have 20,000 posts in a month
thats ridiculous. *ok maybe not 20,000 a month like SMT but you get the points! STR poeple are here to help! MT*R people just want credit that means nothing if they cant show the respect, and love for our sport/lifestyle on the trails!!!

STR is a really nice place.

Gene's newbie rides are the best - STR people are awesome.

It's nice how everyone is welcomed and there's always someone to ride with. It's also nice how STR is so careful about not letting a thread become mean or offensive. I sure hope STR continues with the positive attitude.

I would let my little girl Julia ride with STR (specially Gene) anytime. Even if I can't be there.

Julia (12) is definitely an STR Girl.

STR is better because people here RESPECT each other. Sure there are many different types of people on this board and many different types of riders. That is what makes the group so unique. But what bonds us all is a love of mountain biking and the respect of others who share our passion...no matter what.

So many times I have ridden next to STR peeps who I have never met, yet I always feel a certain kinship with them because we have at least one thing in common. Without fear of being rejected all I have to do introduce myself and I have made another riding buddy.

Respect to all STR members!!!!

I just joined and have not felt the welcome yet, but I think with people like you who respect the trail systems on board, I\'m in the right place. As an active Warrior\'s Society member, I\'m sure you have the environment\'s best interest in mind. So perhaps you can suggest another location for this weekend\'s STR birthday?

That is only because your 1st post was telling people that they can't do something.

Had you first introduced yourself in a seperate post, then added your $.02 about Chino and Carbon Canyon Parks, it might have come off a little nicer.

That being said..... We hope to see you out on some of our rides.

You will find that everyone here is very welcoming and friendly.

Sorry, I didn\'t mean to mislead you. I meant that you are an active WS member. I\'ve read a lot about the WS and I agree wholeheartedly with their views on preserving the local trails.

Howdy Ranger, and welcome aboard. If you haven't felt the love yet, just give it time (and also understand that your first post was aimed at canceling a highly anticipated event!). You will be hard pressed to find a better mix of enthusiasm, support, and responsibility than in the STR family. With your concern for the well-being of our trails and your constructive input, I'm sure you will be welcomed with open arms.

As for why STR is better.....I think it's because of our healthy sense of self-validation!

OK technically, you haven\'t reached the group permit limit of 100 guest or more. But I suspect with a group this popular you will. If you read the brochure of the park, you\'ll see that a 15 day notification is required. I doubt a headcount will be taken, but why risk it since you\'re already halfway there? Anyway, here\'s the park brocure: http://www.ocparks.com/carboncanyon/...=ParkBrochures
