Default Warning for all Internet Sellers!!

For all those that sell stuff on the internet, be careful not to get scammed. I, thankfully, detected the steps the scammer was using on my to buy my bike. These are the steps a scammer usually takes:
  1. sends you a check for more than the bike is worth and wants you to send his shipper the difference
  2. is out of state and has a shipper
  3. has phony addresses and phone numbers
  4. the check is fraudulent
  5. is very persistent in getting things done fast
  6. will not reply to your questions
  7. wants things done his way
Please be careful. I was trying to sell my bike on craigslist and look what I got myself into.

Remember, do not cash the check. Don't even do business with someone who does any of the things above. Don't send him any valuable information like social security or bank numbers.

A good selling experience can be done through Paypal or in person at a different location than your home. Thankfully, I contacted the police and all is well.

Be safe and happy selling.

Never bought or sold on e-pray.

Used craigslist a few times, for a COD.

Craig's list is a bastion for sketchy people and methamphetamine addicts. I refuse to do business on that site.

I haven't had any bad experiences on Ebay thus far. You're fairly safe so long as you know what to look for, but maybe I've just been lucky though.

Is not just for E-Bay. I have purchased from many other places. I will some times chose one store over the other because they take Paypal.

If I pay via Visa you need to enter your personal info.

I personally wouldn't trust buying ANYTHING from Craigslist....I have had ZERO problems selling(sold my truck) and buying(bought mtn bike parts and softball equiptment) from eBay and use PayPal....

There are scammers EVERYWHERE these days you just need to us caution when doing ANY business w/ people you don't know personally....

With over 200 transactions under my belt on eBay, I've had only one problem over the years and even that was resolved to my satisfaction. On Craigslist I've only sold. Cash only. Meet face to face. No problems yet. Scammers are so easy to spot at this point it's laughable.

I sold a bike on craigslist and got a butt load of emails from people wanting to pay with money orders. I emailed them back at first until I figured out the scam, I still ended up selling the bike though, cash of course, so it was a positive experience.

Regarding Mr. Sarsispius Sulu Minagic Jackson III, there's this site I found with all kinds of hilarious scambaiting stories and e-mail threads about those types. This guy who runs the site supposedly published a book about the african 419 scamming and advanced fee fraud. I hope this doesn't count as spam. Sorry if it does. Please don't ban me, George.
