On the first of the Tijeras creek rides, Dino comes up and says hello during one of the regroups. He asks if I'm a member of STR.

I said no, but then thought about it later. Well, I AM a registered member of STR and while I don't post much, I am on the site at least once a day.

I have done a few of the organized rides, but I don't really know anybody else and to be honest, I'm not the type to just go up to people and start chatting.

So I got to wondering, obviously some of you knew each other from somewhere else and some have just became members after finding the site (or running into people while on a ride) on the net. For the folks that just kinda joined in, when did you feel like saying "yeah, I'm a member"?

you're a member when you participate be it a lot or a little...being part of the rides...hell just being here on STR puts you at the MEMBER level

I think a lot of MTBers are "members of STR," they just haven't found the trail that leads here yet. It's the ultimate epic, that one ride you can't forget--you probably dream about it at night (or most likely you just haven't slept because you never logged off). STR is the final technical trail, where each tight switchback leads to a personality, and the one before it prepares you for what lies ahead. This is where you can fall (sometimes repeatedly) without getting hurt. Where the whispers in the trees are the sounds of coaching friends, the laughter when you miss that stump and go OTB.

STR transcends space, it lives in the ether. We are all temporal subjects of its great power. Whatever journey brought you here is your own, but you share it with many. Your membership here begins when you are ready for it.

You are a member when you join. Although there are probably just as many people that join and then are never heard from again, as those that contribute.
