Default Glasses While Riding

What kind of glasses are people wearing while riding? Now That our rides are at night 50% of the time and I am serverly nightblind I need to start wearing mine. I dont want to wear my everyday glasses because Im sure they'll fall off. What types of glasses are people wearing?

Just get some sunglass frames you like and have your prescription lenses put in. I wear Smith glasses and they work well.

There was a recent discussion on this same subject. Check the posting: Riding shades

I have some el cheapo shades from a gas station that have worked ok so far. I was looking to get photochromic lens, but the technology is just not there yet, so I am looking into some Smiths with interchangeable lenses (polarized grey for sunny conditions, clear for dusk).

I wear my everyday glasses. They are titainum wire frames that weigh almost nothing, so I don't even notice them while riding. The silicone pads around the ears and nose make sure they don't shift at all.
Beware of changes in depth perception between glasses. It may throw you off (literally). That's why I don't wear my prescription sunglasses while riding I'm so used to my everyday pair.

I know not everyone is a candidate but Lasik has been incredible for me. Better than 20/20 vision and no more screwing around with prescription glasses then sunglasses. I couldn't wear contacts.

Bite the bullet if you have the opportunity.

Oakley M frames with prescription lenses until then.

I don't need prescription glasses to ride(only to read small print) which is a plus...when I ride and go from shade to sunlight and back(top half of San Juan) I use yellow lense's..total sunlight (lower half of San Juan or A&W) any old sunglasses...night I try to wear clear to help keep my eyes protected from branches I can't see well enough to duck out of the way...

Some sort of eye protection should ALWAYS be warn while riding...

Default Goggles, always goggles

I haven't worn glasses in 2 or 3 years. I forgot 'em one time and had to run goggles and have never gone back. You can run your scripts underneath or just run contacts. My eyes are really prone to irritation and redness with the slightest bit of dust and the goggles cut down on that significantly.

Racing Jackets with clear lenses are pretty bad-ass though (if you don't sit on them). Probably a better option if you don't want to look like a WWI fighter pilot on your next XC epic.

I just wear my everyday titanium wireframes also. Just get a pair of Chums and they won't fall off ( http://www.chums.com/ ). My lenses are photochromic (Visions), so darken well enough in the sun, and lighten up under the trees. My buddies wearing tinted sport glasses were having a hard time recently in some tight twisties in the trees because of the alternating light & shade. Didn't bother me. Who wants to stop and change lenses?

I had been thinking of prescription sport glasses for biking (used to have prescription Bolle glacier glasses for mountaineering), but they're pretty pricey (here's a source http://www.bicyclerx.com/ ).

At least get some Chums for now -- at nearly any outdoor or sporting goods store.

I typically wear contacts and 'performance' cheapies with the multi colored lenses - they actually work pretty well.

One night we were doing a late ride so I just wore my regular glasses - that didn't work out too well, I could see, but because they didn't fit close to my face, I still got a lot of dust in them. So, I will always were contacts and in the case of a late/night ride, where the clear lenses in my cheapo's.

Loving mine. I was wearing Oaks, but these beat them by a long ways.

The service that Lasik-1 has provided has truly changed the way I live my life! I don't have to wear contacts or glasses anymore (the first time since second grade). I just got SCUBA certified and can't wait to go on my honeymoon without the hassle of glasses and contacts!"

+1 on the "retainers" idea.

My glasses (I have regular and sunglass types) are too small to provide the good protection, but my eyes aren't that bad. So I am constantly deciding whether it's more important to see well or keep mud out of my eyes. Sometimes I wear cheapo sunglasses with wraparound design.

I hate contacts. I won't let someone cut my eyes unless necessary (side effects can extremely rarely include blindness=no more riding).

I've only gone down twice, and my glasses didn't come off, but it would really suck if they did and/or broke, so sometimes I remember to wear the retainer.

Next pair I buy will have huge lenses like old people, drug-addicted supermodels, and everyone in the 70s always wear. And they'll be photogreys.
