I think the BBQ idea is great. If we have a big turnout, we’d want plenty of room to walk around and mingle. Restaurants/bars are fun, but they may not be the best choice for a large group. Outside works better IMO.
How about the same kind of deal we had for the Yeti/Chumba/Rocky Mountain demo at Irvine Parks/Oaks? That was fun! |

yea I know but for the birthday party thing I really may want to get my drink on. I really don't like to sneak my booze, feel like I am back in high school.

That could be fun for some of us. It's been 25 years since I was in high school.
But I see your point. ![]() When it comes to parks and beaches, the consumption of alcholic bevs are prohibited. I checked Craig regional, Clark Regional, El Dorado west, O'Neill, as well as the already mentioned Irvine Regional. Beaches too. No booze! ![]() |

I love the BBQ idea, tons of room and riding most likely available but drinking could be a issue.
![]() Bar would be fun but mingling is limited and beers are not as cheap, plus you have to look nice. ![]() I also dig the camping idea, especially if Dell can't make it j/k my man!, because I like fire and beer and nite riding...we could help out the 909 brethen and hit South Fork and unleash hell on SART at night![]() Ultimately if its during the day- Satuday- I am out until after 5pm but I would vote for a bonfire, beer, booze, bubbs and bubbettes!!

I'm in. A Danny K type venue sounds best for the party. A daytime ride would be very cool. Give people a chance to attend in one or both events.
Though an STR B-DAY ride would attract a boat load of riders. So, it would be best to pick a location to string out the peloton. Maple Springs to Motorway would be cool. |

Alot of Newbs would be left out of this ride cause it would take some several hours to complete that ride. Maple Springs is tougher than Black Star because of the first 3 miles of pavement being steeper than anything on Black Star. IMHO, the newbs should be included in any ride scheduled for that day.
I'm planning on a newbie ride on the 20th which is Sat at Carbon Canyon. The route has been worked out. One for the newbies and one for the "A" group. If we plan the b-day celebration on that day, we can do the ride at Carbon and then meet up someplace to celebrate the b-day or just have lunch there. Plenty of room there. |

I like the Danny K - idea, it's not too far for me and I could still drive home after a few beers and.....finally...a chance to play some pool. I had fun playing it one time and would like to try it again. Anyone up for a pool tournament?

As far as a ride goes you'll have to count me out, Sat will be my 1st day off after returning from Moab (we camp) and will be busy cleaning, unpacking and getting the campers ready for storage.
I will be participating in the after bike ride celebrations, hopefully it's an evening "thing" after a week of camping in the RED dirt with Maddie mommy will need a well earned break. Honestly, I'll be happy with what ever we do. Just tell me when and where and I'll be there!

gene was planning on hosting is 'newbie' ride at chino hills/carbon canyon the morning of the 20th. since it is a newbie ride, us not so newbies can still join and participate and have a great time. i do like aldo's idea of a maple to motorway ride, but like gene said, it could be a bit much for the newbies. I haven't been to Chino/Carbon in a loooooong time, but I recall it being fireroad heavy which would cater nicely to a newbie ride, and I also know their are a few great s/t's there as well.
so, here is what i was thinking.... STR Birthday Ride at Chino/Carbon in the morning and STR Birthday Drinkathon in the evening at Danny K's in Orange. We should really lock this down soon so everyone can plan for it.
