Default Giant vs. Kona

I'm in the market for an all mountain and have narrowed down the two bikes I would like. the first is the 08 Dawg Deluxe, made by Kona, the second is an 07 Reign 1 made by Giant. I have read a lot of great reviews on the Giant as of course its been on the market for a while, but know very little about the new Kona, besides their reputation of making and indestructible bike. Thoughts?

Call JensonUSA in Corona, they have a demo bike ( Dawg supreme'07 ) that you can reserve and ride. It will give you an idea about the geometry of the bike and how it rides.

well I've been on and 07 primo and it felt nice and plush(im on a 4 inch XC now), and I do like the Kon's but the good reviews on the Giant is hard to ignore (I do like them as well). I know very little of Giants quility history. I only know they make like EVERYthing that has to wheels under the sun it seems.

that is what it all comes down to. ^^^

i ride an 07 kona dawg primo, i love it. poke your head around, use the 'search' button (i dont feel like typing another reviewof the bike) and see what we all have to say about those two bikes. generally speaking, giant is a much larger company, so they are able to spec their bikes a tad better than kona, but if you do buy a kona, i'd at least go with the 'primo' or 'supreme' model.

check out the path or jenson for a killer deal on a kona.

good luck.

the 08 Deluxe are spec'ed out as nicely as an 07 Primo. I only posted to fish for someone to really step out and say some thing epicly bad about one or the other to make my choice easier. As it stands I dont feel I could go wrong with either, and it all comes down to which one rides better for me, this I know, just wanted to be sure that both are good decent companies that have not done anything to make someone hate them with a passion.

It's me messing around.

"Maestro = a copy of the DW-Link"

In all seriousness it you can throw a leg over each that would be best. Probably hard to go wrong with either bike.

Good luck,

Winston

PS - The Path is a Kona dealer.

In case anyone was also interested in the Giants, I just rode the 08 Giant yesterday and it was sooooo plush. The guy at the store said Giant was able to shave a pound off the weight, I'm not sure what it was before but its pretty light now for an all mt. I was pretty impressed as I sat on it and did short sprints with little or very little tail bob, but it did bob when I stood up, but hey thats what propedal is for. The the bike turned well, and felt really good under me. I rode a small Reign 2 and an a medium Reign 1 and the med was way better. I'm getting the feeling that I might have long arms, and torso or something, because the small felt very short from the seat to stem. So thats my feeling on the Giant, as best as it can be looping around a parking lot. Next is the 08 Dawg Deluxe....
