another reason to do away with it....i think if someone really appreciates a post, they can simply take 15 seconds or so to hit 'quick reply' and type 'thanks' with a reason of why they found the post beneficial eh.

I don't really agree. I like the thanks without having to reply. I find myself review other message boards looking for the thanks button.

good point lee. i also look on other boards for the thanks button...it is a good feature. i guess its just the exploitation of it that kinda bugs me...but that is my choice, lol.

Very good point. I have actually went to hit the "Thanks" button on MTBR once or twice lately and then realized "Oh yeah, it doesn't have one-DUH!!"

I still can't believe people care that much about it though. I mean, a post where someone is saying "Please 'Thank' me" is definitley crossing the line and I'm all for keeping the integrity of the "Thanks" button intact, but let's not get too uptight about it either.

I hate break it to you--but it's just a message board people.

Now if you'll excuse me, I have more unread posts to read while I continue to ignore my family in favor of surfing STR.

i like the thanks button and wouldn't want to wade thru a bunch of 'thanks' posts... and people just wouldn't do it. it's one of the things that makes STR a little more interactive. also good sometimes to just see at a glance all the thanks in one place.

one bad apple though...

Pete is simply PARTICIPATING in his own unique way. If he had not THANKED (739) people- he would be just another LURKER!

He is Super-Lurker! We all know him! We have devoted threads to him. There will be trivia questions devoted to him at next year's STR Summer BBQ!!

I am proud of you Pete! Now step up to the microphone and accept your award!

Take a look.. Attn: Newbs and Lurkers.....
